Rumors abound here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?postid=2187578#post2187578 Anyone heard anything? It could definitely effect Direct Kick programming (not to mention the local programming) if proven true.
The last information I received was that only about 10 games would not be broadcast somewhere. Individual team packages could certainly be scaled back, but the overall coverage seemed to be not changing much. Of course, that could have changed.
The Gals have announced their local TV package. All of their road games will be televised and a few of their home games will be, too.
It appears that the Spanish channel (KWHY 22) picked up the games that the English channel (KICU 9) could not or would not. KHWY televised a couple of games last year and are back this year with 3 away games and 2 home games. Well done to the Galaxy FO for putting this TV package together. Galaxy schedule
There was a rumor earlier this year that one of the local Columbus stations would carry some Crew games, but nothing official has come out. Fox Sports Ohio usually televises one or two games per year, when the Reds and Indians both have a day off or something.
UPN Columbus (WWHO-TV) To Televise At Least Seven Crew Road Games Well you can cut the Crew out of the whole "cutting back on local TV" thing. Last year they only showed 3 road games locally. This year the Crew will have at least 7 locally and 2 on ESPN2 for 9 total. FSW will probalby have a few as well. So the Crew are looking up as far as road games are concerned. NE, Metros, and DC usually does both home and away so Crew fans should be able to pick up those games via DirectKick. That's 4 more road games via DirectKick(1 Metro, 1 DC, 2 NE) Good work by the Crew FO.
DC doesn't do home and away, but the other two do. Still, I think the coverage will be pretty similar this year.
