Some interesting facts from the Bayern official page:
    - "Philipp Lahm is the only Munich man to start all 29 of the club’s games this season. He has now made 90 starts on the trot, and has been substituted during a match just once in that time."
-"Thomas Müller has featured in 52 straight Bundesliga fixtures since August 2009, appearing in every league game both last season and this."
-"Bayern have amassed 23 points at home so far, the best record in the league. Dortmund are three points behind from one game less, with Hannover and Freiburg four off FCB."

Another take on shweini at the number 10...

    http://blogs.soccernet.com/bayern/archives/2011/01/transfer_solves_positional_con.php
    ....

So, after the van Bommel transfer is complete, what is the soundest starting XI we can field without Ribery?

Kraft - Lahm, Breno, Badstuber, Gustavo - Tymoschuk, Schweinsteiger - Robben, Mueller, Pranjic - Gomez

Most persons agree that the two headed monster of MvB/Tymo doesnt work (Maybe even LvG). Tymo in at CB is just a way to keep the board happy (See Uli's comment last year).

I Cant see why Breno did not start the last game based on his outing vs Wolf.

Schwein @ 10 keeps MvB on the pitch.

Which bring me to this... Starting Gustavo at CM in the last match didn't make much sense to me because clearly he was brought in to fill the LB position or atleast in the short term. LvG self said that he may not start because he has not yet become comfortable with his philosophy. So with that why even place him in a role that is more involved than the LB position give our possession style play.

If he has to play why not let him learn at the position he was brought in for.

Be warned: Pranjic at LB in CL = Disaster.

Second we have see Bayern have difficulty in closing out games, why wait till the 85th min (or there about) to bring in Breno.

Ill take a win any day, but this 5-1 drumming has a false sense to it. The holes that were there last year are still there with this line up. The lack of a tactical plan B during that matches still are not in place.

Even with a lead we play the same way with the same group of players. We tend to sub like players for like players. Example, we're up 2-1, 3-1 we sub in an offensive minded Altintop for Robben.

I guess we use the best offense is the best defense approach.

Tymo - plays out of position
Muller - plays out of position (i can understand Muller due to Ribery or Robben Injuries)
Shewini - plays out of position
Gustavo - currently plays out of position
Pranjic - you never know where he'll line up
    MvB - Off his best.

I honestly think that we survive because of the individual class these players have and that they will perform the best they can regardless of their designated position(s); also the competition that we are facing on a given day, but clearly we get the most out of them when they line up in the positions they see themselves in and the positions they are most suited for.

I will forever question LvG game day tactics until I am convinced otherwise and the favoritism that is being showed to MvB.

He is questioning tactical moves by LVG...
... how is that fantasy? I thought at the least it was a well thought out post with rationale behind it.

So I guess I'll bring out the big question, who's the Captain?
Will Lahm be automatically promoted or will he just be promoted temporarily and we'll have to wait a while to hear Van Gaal's decision?

Lahm official captain but Schweini is captain for me on the pitch Lahm is only a little dude who minds his own business and never goes to talk and complain to the referee

    Dude, please.
You don't have to be a petulant child on the pitch to become a captain. I'm sick of this meme that every Bayern captain must be a massive dirtbag inorder to lead the team.

There is no way you can know. The only people that can say that Lahm is a worse captain than Schweinsteiger are the players, and they have said nothing to have people assume that Pig is the better captain.

I'm guessing the same way he led it for most of the season? Maybe the way he led Germany to 3rd over the summer?

It won't make a difference on the pitch either way on who gets it, but Lahm should get it since he's been great for 5 years while Piggy for 1.5 years

Read the last line. That along with all the conspiracy theories about Van Bommel. Give me a break. Hasn't today's news finally debunked that bullshit?

    -----------Kraft--------------
    Lahm, Breno, Badstuber, Gustavo
    --Schweinsteiger------Kroos---
    Robben-----Mueller------Ribery
    ------------Gomez-------------

Subs: Butt (gk), Van Buyten (cb), Pranjic (cm/lb/lw), Ottl (cm), Tymo (cm/cb), Altintop (rw/lw), Klose (st), Contento (lb)

All positions have adequate backups other than right back - maybe Altintop? And central defense is still weak however Gustavo could be played there then Pranjic or Contento go to left back.

 or RW/LW. Our back-up is our AM (Mueller) who has to cover for Robbery which then pushes Schweini up to the "10" which then pisses the FO off, which then pisses LvG off and then everybody stops talking to each other except for through the media which then makes us (club) look like a bunch of idiots.

That's reaaaallly really stretching our resources. You would actually be fine with that? Remember, we're trying to consistently compete on three levels with a shot at winning each.

Talking about adequate backups and not even having two players for each position is making me laugh. There is no Lahm backup, no Mueller backup (Schweinsteiger and Kroos always require Pranjic, Gustavo or Ottl to cover up CM/DM), no real winger backup (Altintop for instance never played LW). And I'm not even counting the injures
