Followed by your explanation of how "City" is used occasionally by European teams. Followed by the person thinking of you as another one of those crazy "soccer people," turning, and walking away.
Derek Rae refers to the Wizards as "City" But then Gordon Bradley, Ray Hudson, and Tommy Smyth refer to them as "Kansas"
Put them in Draper, call them Salt Lake County (home of the "Gunners" Har har. Maybe get some distant Gary Gilmore relative to coach.)
There are so many good choices in that shortlist. Salt Lake City Checketts is my latest fave.... It has a built in catchy slogan too. "The MLS! Checkett out in '05!!!"

I hadn't seen Utah Caribou before. That has a nice sound to it; downright noble. But I read the Checketts is determined to have Salt Lake City in the name -- something to do with easing the way to a future stadium or the sensitivities of local fans.
S-Pulse! Only if the new team goes with the all orange kits. The FMF is getting its hands in MLS, why not the J League?
MLS in SLC, could we have any better news since the Olympics?! Let's not drop the ball now and choose a stupid name, logo or mascot! Nothing we could call our new team could be classier than simply "FC Salt Lake" Please, let's forget kitschy regionalisms -- let's play world class soccer in what has finally become a world class city.
