Clarifying in Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Sonny Kittel and Bobby Wood did not take part in today's second session. The reason is that, given their history of injury, Dieter Hecking has preferred not to force them and reserve them for tomorrow's friendly match... 1149743119065341952 is not a valid tweet id Translated from Germanby Microsoft +++++The intensive preparatory work was done with great care by the cartilage-controlled gentlemen Papadopulos, Wood and Kittel.+++++ 1149721948819038208 is not a valid tweet id
stream for friendly v. huddersfieldtown... (would rather be in Kietzbuhl, except "summer.") https://tv.hsv.de/detail/video/378 Wood not starting per team sheet btw but he is on the bench.

Wood with a near post run chance, but the pass wide was OS and he missed near post anyway (was in a crowd, not an easy play) 5 mins left.
ended 1-0. Only watch last 7 mins Dudziak had two good long range chances. Hudd was already packed in holding on for time. Wood didn't have much of the ball in the time I watched, but seemed mobile enough.
"the cartilage-controlled gentlemen" is amazing. Google Translate throws up some gems from time to time. Edit: Actually, that reminds of that wonderfully-named Spurs blog, Cartilage-Free Captain.
HSV have their next "real" test v. Anderlecht in a week. (7/20) Getting shut out by the Terriers is not a ringing endorsement of the alternatives, but Wood has not be lightening it up either. He seems to be in the mix, but I'd guess scoring some goals would help his case for starting up top... Hinterseer scored after replacing Wood v Olympiacos. And Hinterseer (PK) and Jatta scored against Arhaus, so I'd think Hinterseer would have the edge right now having scored twice in the more "real" friendlies. but it's early days. Both are still getting minutes.
The reality is if Wood could return to something close to his Union form, he would have to be in the mix unless a few guys dramatically up their game. We just don't have a lot to choose from there. Not saying he'd be the best choice, but you'd have to give him a real second look. But it's a big "if."
He actually looks good for the NT. It's injuries and poor morale (years on sucky teams) bringing him down. It's not like he can't create his own goal scoring opportunities.
No. If he can find his form again he will be back with the national team. There is no reason to believe otherwise.
I think the knee issues are chronic and is something he Is carefully attuned to. They started at least when he was with 1860. He seems to have his own Dr’s that he trusts and that has caused a bit of an issue at times with some of the clubs he has been with.
It feels to me that the last two seasons have seen more flare ups. He's probably missed 15-20 games in the last two seasons due to his knees (or at least blamed on his knees) Thats not the end of the world over two seasons, but they kind of came sprinkled in thoughout the season. I hope that he's got it handled and can come out full-bore this year. It's perhaps not surprising his two best recent years: At least the Union year for sure, were relatively injury-free.
