When it comes to our issues, Onana may be a problem, but he’s so far down the list it isn’t worth worrying about.

He already takes the biggest risk possible - not knowing how to be a goalkeeper...

i didn't forget about this guy. meant to address this a couple days ago but here we are - yet another error, yet again.

i hate this but i said so from the start and not as some great prediction but just the objective truth.

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/transfer-window-talk.2117913/page-156#post-41522621

and if you recall we had to endure this:

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/transfer-window-talk.2117913/page-158#post-41537551

wasn't clever then and even less so now.

bear in mind a lot of fans said DdG was too error prone and had to go. €60m later are we really much better off?

    Nnnnnope

Would have kept DeGea and renegotiate for a lower wages.

I disagree. DDG was making worse blunders than Onana and doing it for a longer period.

    i dunno about worse.

we were torrid under ten Hag and maybe wouldn't have made it out anyway but Onana played a big part in finishing bottom of the CL group.

i wouldn't have kept DdG but would not have chosen Onana either. he's a mediocre keeper with very good passing and sweeper abilities.

however, there is no point having expertise in your secondary duties if you're not going to fulfill the primary ones

Its worse because its a longer period of time. DDG had been ********ing up for at least 4 years.

well, unfortunately i have to tell you this isn't new territory for Onana either.

i'll let you google it but this has been since Ajax days and it isn't pretty

It's like choosing between lesser evil. Both making blunders. I'm also factoring money spent on Onana.

The criticism of Onana is fair but the rose-tinted memories of DDG less so. He made numerous errors leading to goals his last few seasons.

Kind of concerning neither Erik or Ruben seem to rate our other keepers enough to give them any game time either.

Yeah, de Gea sucked too. This just in though: it would be nice to have a decent recruitment team.

^ we will when Jassim buys the club for 6 billion and the Glazers finally high tail it.

Until then, Ineos will keep pretending they know how to run a football club by hiring people who worked for Barca and bankrupted them...

Im well aware. Not just that, but also his antics. He was booted off the cameroon team. He's had issues.

Outside of his transnfer fee, still rather have this guy than the DDG we didnt renew. Ill explain why below

Yeah, I get the transfer fee, but Onana is actually the lesser of the two evils outside of that because yeah, he's an unreliable shot stopper, but he's miles better on the ball than DDG. Ill concede that our possesion game hasnt been that imppressive, but its not been Onana's fault.

    I do agree with this.

    Should've gone for Diogo Costa.

While he's better than DDG with the ball at his feet, in no way is he elite at it. He's made a number of mistakes with the ball that have cost us.
