Late sub appearance for booth, but at least he was back in the squad. Helps protect a 2-1 win despite a late red card for Twente. Three straight wins and they're up to fifth.
Couldnot be worse to start: FC Twente suffers ignominious friendly defeat against German second division team: 'This looks very ugly' FC Twente put themselves to shame on Wednesday afternoon. The team, which had the good feeling in the competition, went down in Paderborn in an embarrassing way. It was no less than 7-0 for the Germans. John van den Brom had a flashy start as the successor to the fired Joseph Oosting, but after three victories he also knows what it is to lose with the club. And how. It's only a game behind closed doors, but the way in which the Dutch Eredivisie club let itself be exposed by the number four from the Second Bundesliga was nevertheless disconcerting. Rarely has FC Twente received such a beating in a friendly game. "All the beautiful and good that I am very enthusiastic about so far, I have not seen at all today," said a disappointed trainer. "There are always extenuating circumstances, but it makes no sense at all to start talking about them. This looks very ugly." A bright spot was that Sam Lammers made his comeback after months of rehabilitation from a shoulder injury.
Damn. That's harsh. Hard to explain away a loss that big even in a friendly. Against a 2.BL opponent no less. Rough, rough, rough.
As an FYI, Santiago Castaneda was given permission to go to Florida for a family visit and did not play.
On the bench: FC Twente on X: " Wissels: Tyton, Karssies, Kuipers, Booth, Lammers, D. Rots, Peixoto, Lemkin, Vennegoor of Hesselink, Verschueren, Unuvar. Daouda Weidmann ontbreekt vandaag in de selectie, de middenvelder is ziek. #NECTWE" / X
"linked with" "on the radar" "is interested" "is keeping an eye on" Buzzwords of lazy reporting with an effort to generate sensationalist headlines. It tells you nothing. Big clubs monitor loads of players. Things only become concrete when you hear if an offer has been made, or are preparing to making an offer, or if personal terms are agreed and the clubs are just negotiating fees. Once you hear those things, okay, then it becomes news.
I understand, and agree. Bogus rumor or not, the main point remains - at one point his career appeared on the up and up, and it fell off a cliff quickly. A common tale, but still a bummer when it happens to one of ours.
he was putting up some good performances as a center mid when he started off in netherlands. He had a rough initial adjustment but then started really cooking. then for whatever reason he has played exclusively as a winger and never had success out wide. doesnt really make sense to me because i dont think he has the 1 on 1 explosiveness or trickery to succeed out wide......but i think he is still a good player in the center of the park. its so odd to me. that was really all about ten hag....but it wasnt so crazy, as he was a youg player producing in the eredivisie at the time i reckon a shrewd club that puts him back in the center of the pitch will find a bargain steal
