Second half already more interesting - Gendrey scores early to make it 1-0 Hoffenheim. Tessmann not involved.
If I was Sage managing Lyon, I'd be considering 2-3 subs, perhaps including Tessmann, in the next little while.
The changes make the difference. TT not directly involved, but Lyon evens the score with a slightly scrappy goal
TT has been making a lot of good late runs towards the top of the box, but his teammates just aren't looking for him. But that's been OL's story today: very discombobulated when possessing the ball...
really poor game management by Lyon. Started with a terrible punt by the keeper and then Lyon never getting their shape back.
TT was closing down the shooter. I'm not sure I'd place all the blame on him, but he's most likely to catch flack as the defender closest to the shooter.
Not really on him, Lyon had stopped playing. The RWB had 3 Hoff players around him. What was that punt earlier? So strange. I think that hit Tessmann in the back of the legs?
horrible 1st half, exciting 2nd half. Not a standout performance from TT, but not bad either. OL locker room is gonna be miserable...
See my comment on that in Tessman's YA thread as foll: I would add that Lyon did what Betis did (Johnny). They put their finishing stars on late, undoubtedly because it is a Thur nite match with a league game coming in less than 72 hours.
I believe that was the keeper's first match at OL. At age 28, he's kind of been a career backup, having fewer than 30 senior team appearances in the last 5 seasons. Doesn't explain the bizarre decision making on that punt, but it's certainly worth noting.
I couldn't tell if it was a mis-hit or weird decision making. Probably mis-hit. One of the other Lyon players was gesticulating "launch it" and TT was not looking at the keeper when he hit it, and it took a weird bounce off TT's legs. Lyon still had a couple of chances to shut the move down, but they were out of shape and out of gas.
