When I was in high school, our football team played its home games there because we had no stadium. Now that I think about it (the way it was, anyway), the roof and all, it did have a fourth division English feel that would be interesting. I can't imagine they haven't updated the place in 30 years though, have they? (Oh, I see they put in turf three years ago). If the team could afford it, the University of Tampa's new lacrosse stadium would be a perfect stadium for the Marauders to play in. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/...=a.10150978294147395.375337.7148517394&type=3
I just think it's funny that we're talking about an NPSL team's future and its ability to afford something.
- The field size doesn't meet NSPL regulations. - A serious injury occurred this past weekend 100% as a result of the field's condition.
It looked bigger than the field at Al Lang. And it is in better condition. The stadium itself is a dump.
In their second regular season match, the Marauders got their first ever victory tonight in the NPSL! They defeated the Cape Coral Hurricanes AWAY, 1-0!
Any time you can go to Cape Coral and get a result, that's huge. They'll be talking about that one for years.
So when did you attend Jefferson? My first year was the year that they started playing in the new stadium.
Was it the injury mentioned upthread? Sounds like an upgrade. This might push them to 3,000 a game, seeing as how they were going to get 1-2,000 at Blake.
The field at Blake HS is in real bad shape and it appears that they couldn't get the school to fix the problem in time. I'm sure they got a good deal using the new venue since most of their players and coaching staff have strong ties with UT's soccer program.
Yes, I saw that they moved because of the field. They posted it on their Facebook and Twitter fields a bit later. Good point on the UT connection though.
Tampa re-signed Head Coach Maurice Loregnard and Assistant Coach Alex Delgado for 2014....I suppose that means they are going to play again in 2014; or at least they plan to as of now. Tryouts are planned for December.
Probably. Any thoughts right now are pure speculation though, a team at this level could play anywhere from public parks to high school stadiums, and really anywhere else. Good to see them coming back though.
Cool. I didn't get a chance to see them play at UT's new stadium. Seem's like a great place to watch soccer, with the stands really close to the field.
made the conference playoffs and via coin toss awarded the 3rd seed: http://www.mymarauders.com/teams/default.asp?u=TAMPA2&s=soccer&p=newsstory&newsID=17912
