Strong match in a 2-0 win over injury-stricken Werder Bremen. Got a late yellow, and had a potential goal cleared off the goal line against him.

I thought it was meh until the final 10-15 when he helped seal the win for Wolfsburg. Was hard done on getting the would be goal cleared off the line. Came right back to win the ball to a teammate who assisted the game-clinching goal. Also, helped stall the game out.

It was the 1st match under new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl. KP notably kept his starting role. And he was deployed as a LWB. That's his best spot, imo. So both are good signs the replacement will work out for him. Helps to start off on the right foot too, w/ a big road win.

He was supposed to be the feature man on YA today, but alas it appears he's suffered a knock or illness, because he's not in the squad. A couple days ago his status was noted as "uncertain".

Paredes came on at half - more than 30 minutes probably! against Freiburg. Down 1-0.

Came back to win 2-1. Paredes helped Wolfsburg get on the front foot from the start and drawing a red card on a dribbling foray was a key. Directly, he was more danger adjacent, pestered, & kept possession well.

He's still not playing like an attacker, more a lwb. He lost his starting spot to injury and it didn't even go well w/ his alternatives. He should get in the lineup & ideally play further back. Beat opponents on overlaps.

Took a nasty hit and was lucky the damage wasn't worse. Was able to stay on after a long treatment session.

The new manager is good for the team. They play with renewed purpose. He wants to bring Paredes on gradually and build his confidence while expanding his game. Looks like Paredes could be a "modern" wingback of very high caliber.

Paredes gets the start for Wolfsburg against Darmstadt.

They jump out to an early 2 goal lead. It looks like Paredes was instrumental in the first by pushing to attack again and trying to combine with Wimmer after receiving a clearance outside the box.

He actually got to play some forward winger after the 60'+ subs came on but got subbed out at 80'.

Yes, his play on the goal was very smart. He'd be a good midfielder as far as soccer i.q. is concerned but he'd have to move a bit more with the game coming at him from both sides and no touch line to help him. He has the well calibrated touch on passes and his off the ball positioning, especially in quick triangles, is top notch, albeit in the outside position where he is being played for the most part.

Without much fanfare, this 21 year old is having a better season than most NT staples.

He'd basically be the third player on my (YA) teamsheet after Gio and Pulisic but lacks experience which he is certainly getting at the moment with the current manager. He has literally just finished growing recently - his manager earlier in the season said he wasn't physically ready for starts and he was right. He showed some really good stuff in midfield today which isn't his position. He was actually playing as left wing forward in a 343 which is what fotmob shows as well. He was fotmob motm for Wolfsburg with a goal scored. With nothing to play for, the manager used the game as training for a pressing game.

Didn't he play in the Olympics? There's probably some posts there.

I was suspicious of playing him there at the Olympics since he usually plays on the left but he grew on me and looked better as the tournament progressed. I do think he needs to not always go down as refs tend to start not calling anything if a player does that - foul or not.

He gets so many of these little injuries & the timing of them is awful. This is 2nd or 3rd time he's out to start the season when he has a chance to establish himself as the starter.
