Taishi Brandon Nozawa Goalkeeper Dec 25, 2001 Dan Orlowitz seems to be a fairly legit source, American-educated and working in soccer media in Japan. Just four days after turning 17 on Christmas, goalkeeper Taishi Brandon Nozawa gets a late gift as #FCTokyo announce his promotion to the top team.American father, Japanese mother, has represented Japan at U-15 through U-18 levels. Six appearances for FCT's U-23 team this year. https://t.co/MVR2csUiqU— Dan Orlowitz (@aishiterutokyo) December 29, 2019 I can't find any other sources that identify him as having a Yank father. There are reports Lammens the Royal Antwerp #1 GK is on his way to Man United. This may give Nozawa the starting job. Any Goalkeeping news is big news for USMNT, who knows.
True, but the backup is a journeyman 35 yr old they got on a free in January. Unless they sign someone else, Nozawa has a good shot at winning the job.
Has now started the last 6 matches for Royal Antwerp. However, Japan just called him in as a replacement for Suzuki. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2025/11/10/soccer/zion-suzuki-withdraw-friendlies/
His recent form has been very good. 2 8.5+ ratings in a row from fotmob, both clean sheets against Genk and Club Brugge. Did not play during Japan call up so there is still some fleeting hope here.
