3+ years of pushing MS and Herrera as our next midfield pair and we finally have both of them here, happy days. Welcome to the greatest club in the world MS. Morgan Schneiderlin is currently having a medical at Manchester United. More to follow. #mufc pic.twitter.com/eNywPsvGa9— BBC Sport (@BBCSport) July 12, 2015
And how great that for at least one season, he'll have the privilege to train, play and learn next to 2 great CMs in Carrick and Schweini. Will end up making him that much better!
Will have a Schneiderlin piece up tomorrow but throughout negotiations there was no suggestion Arsenal were his 'preferred' choice. #mufc— Samuel Luckhurst (@samuelluckhurst) July 12, 2015
Reported fee is 24m. If only we had offered 25m as our first offer we could have had him before the preseason tour...
What a great weekend by Woody. Our midfield is tops in the league now. Looking forward to the season!
As far as both quality and depth are concerned, yes. Scholes/Carrick is 06-08 were a quality starting pair though.
The thing to note about Schneiderlin is his role for Southampton as he played alongside or ahead of Wanyama, Davis and Cork. While his primary strengths are defensive with his league leading interceptions and tackles he has more to his game. His passing ability, particularly when retaining possession, is proven and he also offers assists and goals. While he will eventually replace Carrick he will seamlessly slot in both beside him in a double pivot or ahead of him. This gives us options and more security in the bigger games. He will be particularly useful during transitions with his ability to win the ball and immediately release those ahead of him.
Firstly, Schneiderlin’s passing. The Frenchman ranked ninth overall in the Premier League last season for most successful passes completed per game (52.9), an unbelievable rate of one successful pass every 95 seconds. That is more successful passes per game than Champions League finalist and Copa America winner, Arturo Vidal (41.3). Despite the number of passes made by Schneiderlin, his completion remained exceedingly high at 89%, bettering the well sought after and £60 million-rated, Paul Pogba (84%). The 25-year-old impresses further with successful take-ons. His success rate of 72.7% puts him well ahead of many of the Premier League’s best, including Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez (58.7%). Tackling is another strong part of Schneiderlin’s game. The midfielder won 3.04 tackles on a 90 minute basis, ranking him second in the Premier League overall for most tackles won per game, above Chelsea’s highly-rated Nemanja Matic (2.81). via: www.oulala.com
Woody had already earned himself a nice vacay in September once the window is officially closed but he's probably not done and once he will be, he will probably have earned a nice bonus as well. I wanted to see what he'd do this summer and so far he has delivered big time and gets big time props for time.nand as mentioned, there's no reason to believe he's close from being done. That's even more exciting.
ok MS has 200k twitter followers right now, let's see where that number is in a week and a season from now. Good chance to validate the United impact @The Jitty Slitter
Now that United have Darmian,Schneiderlin, and Schweinsteiger. What's next on Woody's list? A striker,CB,or GK?
Woodward is nowhere close from being done. This really could a summer for the books in all seriousness. Top marks for him so far though.
CB, I would imagine. I genuinely couldn't care who at this moment, that midfield will be solid as a rock and tough to get through in any case. Carrick finally has a midfield partner or three!!!
