I'm going to be in California for Memorial Day weekend and I am bringing a group of friends to the Chivas - Dallas game. One is from England and has never tailgated before.

    1. I was wondering what the rules are at the HDC for tailgating? Grills, containers, anything that I should know.

    2. What would be a good time to get there to ensure a spot?

    3. How long does it take to get out after the game?

    4. Any other bits of information that I would need?

    Thanks! :)

Unfortunately tailgating isn’t allowed at the HDC. They don’t allow grills, I know it sucks. But, if you’re lucky you might find yourself someone selling bacon wrapped hotdogs – if it doesn’t’ kill you you’ll love it. You might be able to get away with bottles, but it’s probably a better idea to use plastic cups instead.

I’ve only been to one Chivas USA game – I’m a Galaxy fan who wants Chivas to do well – so I can’t really tell you how long it takes to get in and out of the HDC, maybe someone else can chime in on that.

    No tailgating? How un-American!

    Thanks for the info!

Yeah, technically there's no tailgating at the HDC (********ing communists ;) ) but I've tailgated many times there without any problems. I guess security might tell you to put your grill away, but like I said, I've done it before and no one noticed.

Re: booze, I'd keep it in a cup or can, more for common sense/safety than anything else.

Enjoy the game. Hopefully we get off the skid we're currently on.

Iv barbecued and had beer out n plain daylight as well. I had no problems of course i get the general parking so it's not like anyone cares what we do over there anyway. Hope you guys sit by Legion 1908. It makes the game that much better and reminds you you are at a professional futbol match. So i realize that most people have the team that they are extremely loyal to and have a back up team usually in the other conferance that they don't mind following a bit. Are you guy's secondary chivas fans?

Actually there are some weird loop-holes to this.

1.) you can BBQ. But not one of those big grills. You have to put it in the back your truck in the bed. Then the security won't say anything.

2.) you can drink all you want in the lots. Just no visible bottles or cans. Plastic cups work just fine.

3.) They are pretty much "Rent A Cop Security" team there. So if they do tell you something. Use the old... Yea we'll clean it up or put it away and you won't see them again for the rest of the day.
