Does this mean that somebody in the front office is actually listening to fans?

Never. This is a local community outreach program to put more money in the hands of parking lot, security, and police staff by giving them all an extra hour of work. Krafty Bob needs something from the town of Foxboro and wants everyone happy.

why, yes, i *am* bullsh*tting you. how could you tell?

    This is great news.

Long overdue. A small change, but one that should improve the game day experience at Gillette IMO.

It greatly reduces PMS. (Pre-Match Stress)

Little by little it seems they are coming around. I give them credit for the positive changes this season.

I agree completely as well. I think they've made a number of small changes already this season that give me hope that they are starting to figure things out.

    - Jerseys. Incorporating the flag on New England into the jersey, removing the silver/Patriots look, having some jerseys available before the holiday season, and hosting a jersey release event at the proshop were all steps in the right direction.

    - College season ticket rates. I think this is a great way to encourage the lower end of the 18-35 demographic to attend games. Something like this could be wildly successful with a SSS that is MBTA accessible.

    - Supporter relations. Providing The Fort with flags of New England for the home opener plus extending the tailgate are both nice gestures from the FO. I also liked the idea of calling in former STHs for an event with Bilello and Heaps, I just wish I had gotten the invitation and that more people hat attended.

There are several other minor improvements that have occurred within the past six months or so, I'm just drawing a blank right now.

And don't forget the New England flags with poles in the fort!

As for the 3 hours, I love it... 2 hours felt rushed to get the tailgate set up then packed up! One hour extra will feel like a huge difference to me!

I was listing those things off in my head as well, and I agree they are all good moves. There is one more pretty good thing they've done that I seriously cannot for the life of me remember.

The victory song? While I still believe that it's far from my favorite piece of recorded music, I rescind my original post about it and agree with others who pointed out that this was a good move from management.

My question is why just STH and supporter groups? If I am a member of a supporter group will I have to park where they do or can I park where I want?

You would park with the Supporters Group.

Being a STH or in a Supporters Group means that you will be a return customer so allowing them an extra hour of tailgating builds value in being a STH or in a Supporters Group.

    Yes! That's it. Thanks.

Say what you will about the song, the entire idea to allow a supporter to write a song for when the team wins games is an awesome move. It's fan relations like these that this organization needs to embrace.

Well its a good move for those groups but for average joe fan like me that goes to 5-10 games a year it does me no good. Would I enjoy an extra hour? ya

Average joe fan doesn't go to 5-10 games a year. He usually brings his family to one game, and they're not too worried about a three hour tailgate in general.

Don't get used to it. :D

Also ... there's too much positivity in this thread. What will the complainers about complaining complain about? :D

It is only $10 to join The Riders for the year. Not exactly a bank breaker.

    That's the point.

You're supposed to sign up for a membership or buy season tickets because of this extra perk.

Or just lie about it to convince the parking nazis to let you in. ;)

pn: Are you a member of a supporter's group?

fs: I live in CT and will be joining today at the tailgate.

I suppose someone could do that but I don't understand why it would be worth all that effort.

It costs $10 to sign up for the Riders and with it you get a voice with the team and also a quick way towards getting involved and trying to improve the atmosphere. Never mind, deals on the road trips and scarves or whatever.

I don't understand why you would actively be trying to cheat a group out of the $10.

$10 for an entire season of extra long tailgates is a deal.
