After watching the game last night I got the subtle impression that we can attribute the tie to the poor choices that Bradley has made. Two stick out clearly in my mind:

    1. Not starting Benny
    2. Not starting Adu

Neither of these two are subs. They should be allowed to start games. They are dynamic and have ball control. Something that we lacked last night. While we did have possession, it doesnt mean we had control. The difference between the ball being a hot potato and passing the salt around on the table.

    Thoughts?

Well, the question is who do they replace. I thought Bradley played well. And I think that we need at least one ball winner in the midfield, and freddy and benny don't really provide that.

So I'm not certain I agree. Benny for Ricardo Clark, maybe. I'm not sure who freddy replaces out there last night. MAybe Convey but I thought he was the only player giving us any width last night. That's not freddy's specialty.

I agree but I think that Bradley is still trying to slowly blend them in. I think they will be starters come qualifiying time. Adu has to be in there b/c he brings a level of creativity that the team strongly needs.
It was great to see Altidore getting the start. I think as long as he stays healthy we will see him doing so for many years to come. What a great finish by Jozy,he is def a pure striker<<<<what we sorely need. And that was a great service by Moor.

No kidding. I just don't see us making it to a quarter finals of a world cup with Taylor twellman or brian ching as our strikers....

Though France won the world cup with g'varch (sp?) as their lone striker, so who knows.:D

You really don't think that Benny was able to retain the ball in the midfield or break up opposing midfield play? I thought that in the time that he was playing he actually did a decent job. Unfortunately maybe he passing precision was off last night. I just think that he should be a starter. Also I agree Bradley did do a good job.

Dempsey? I think that Adu should play up top alone with Jozy. Let them both work either side of the field linking up with Donovan coming in from behind.

But I think that a lot of what we saw last night was due to the over population of the midfield from both teams. It also brought about a more rough, agitated and combatitive soccer.

And let's not forget the goal that was taking away from us. I think that goal might have demoralized the team to a certain extent. Had they not robbed that goal I think that the USA would have gone on to at least a 4-1 win.

Does anyone know when they might show the game again? I would love to review it.

I would have liked Adu playing with Altidore, with Donovan supporting. If Donovan was crap (like he was), then Deuce could have come in. I'd have then used the Bradley/Feilhaber midfield to try and give the attackers a solid base to work with.

For me the biggest mistake was not starting Feilhaber, followed by Adu not starting. I though Feilhaber was great in his few minutes, he composed things quite a bit more than what was coming from Ricardo Clark. I can't believe he's not getting minutes at Derby, considering the shite they play. He ought to get the heck out of there, it doesn't seem like Paul Jewell has anymore faith in him than the last guy.

Benny can hold the ball no doubt, but I think bradley is a stronger ball winner, and I'm not so confident in Carlos bocanegra that we can't have that type of player in front of him. esp with landon in the center of midfield, I think we need someone a little stronger than benny.

You know what it is for me. I just cant get the Gold Cup goal out of my head. You really dont have confidence in Bocanegra? Any game stand out as to the reason why? How about Gooch? The one thing that I didnt like from the defense was that they didnt fan out from enough after goalie possessions. I would have liked to see more interaction between the central defenders and the fullbacks, I believe thats what its called. Please forgive my ignorance of positional names in english.

Another thing that I noticed was Bradley's (coach) lack of direction during the course of the game. I saw him as very quiet and observant almost analytical but nothing more. Althought I did see this same posture from Hugo Sanchez as well, which was surprising because he's always jumping up and down and making himself look more the fool than he already is. lol Did anyone see this as well?

yeah Bob is a very low key kinda guy. He did what we always do..counter attack,,which I don't mind..but the defending HAS TO GET BETTER..we'll get eaten alive playing a better world class team

Amen. Mexico had a fair share of chances, any other side with better finishers would have put us to the sword.

I'm glad to see that Gooch is confident, even if it wasn't his best game. Hopefully he keeps it up with Liege and maybe finds a bigger team soon.

BIG TIME..we were missing Bornstein too..which is a big blow for us..but we should be able to slot someone in his place..Carlos or Gooch..have to start communicating better..they got caught out TOO many times in the back

Yea I like that about him.I think a good leader doesnt get to high/low no matter what the situation. They always look in control.

Yea the D was terrible. They should also let Parkhurst get some minutes out there.

I won't deny it, I was a bit excited when Parkhurst started warming up after Bocanegra collided with Timmay. Was surprised he didn't get minutes later on, but I could see Bradley keeping the back 4 stable so we didn't ship a late goal and lose the match.

One thing that I DIDN'T like about Bradley, even though I like him overall, was that when things were getting a little complicated on the field I really didnt see him make any moves. This bothered me in that if you see the team being complicated by its opponent you need to make moves. Granted that the camera wasnt on him all the time but in the frames that they shot him, he seemed static.

Regardless I like him and hopefully we take things from this game and get ready for the next. Which by the way is against who?

Another thought for you guys? Ramiro Corrales? Any thoughts? Personally I didn't like him one way or the other. I believe that the position he plays is fullback? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyhow who plays in this position regularly?
