I thought i will update you with news about Etchus time in Sweden and at Ljungskile SK in this thread. Etche (his new nicknamne) have been here in sweden about three weeks now. And in a interwiev last week David Wilson (the coach) told that Etchu has been impressing so far, but there is many things to work on, like his tactical skills and the position on the pitch. Like i wrote in the thread about Colin Burns. LSK will plays their first preseason game on saturday, and i think that Etche is going to make his first game with LSK then. And there will soon be an interwiev with Ecthe on the web, there he talks about his time in sweden so far and his future. At last, i think Etches number on the shirt will be 23.
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden Thanks for the info!! Hope he impresses. Thanks for taking the time to fill us in. Since we don't have Star Trek Transporters yet, we can't all be at the games!
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden How long is their pre-season camp/training? And, btw, are they indoors in Sweden or migrating down to Spain/Greece?
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden http://www.svenskafans.com/fantv/player/dev_flash.asp?clip=4988&cat=0&list=all Here is the interwiev. If your wondering about the sounds in the background, there is a tabletennis game between two of his teammates. They are outdoors, the have a pitch with artifical turf, (konstgräs) and a smaller pitch indoors. The preseason starts in the beginning of january and the premiere of the league is at the 31 mars. It´s just fun to inform you
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden Thanks for the link! It provides us with the first look at the enigmatic Etchu Tabe. This will be an interesting YA to follow in the spring/summer! This makes two young YA forwards in Sweden.
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden From the video, Etchu seems like a really nice, genuine kid. I"m looking forward to following him and seeing how he develops in Sweden. This could make for a really incredible story! Good luck Etchu!
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden In fact, they were both born in the same year. Should make for some interesting comparisions that, I hope, people will use to make broad generalizations they believe will further their various agendas. Let's get this party started!
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden I would say "thank you" in Swedish, if I knew how. Well, according to this site, it's Tack så mycket http://www.elite.net/~runner/jennifers/thankyou.htm
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden I just hope he scores enough goals to get a look or two from Bob Bradley (and perhaps Peter Nowak, though I doubt there's enough time for the 23s). It would be nice for the US to have a 6-4 option up top who is putting the ball in the net for his club.
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden Etchu is 6-4! Wow...that's the first I've heard of his size! Now I'm even more intrigued. Can't wait to see some video from his games.
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden According to these articles he is. http://yanks-abroad.com/get.php?mode=content&id=3623 http://www.unionrecorder.com/sports/local_story_011230817.html?keyword=topstory His bio at his agent's website says 6-3. http://www.mlfsports.com/Profiles/MLF Profile Sheet Etchu Tabe.pdf It definitely makes him more intriguing if... A) he scores goals for his club and B) he plays big as opposed to other big American forwards who tend to play like withdrawn strikers or wide mids. Agreed.
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden Sandon....Thanks for all the extra info on Etchu! I'd REP you, but I can't.
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden Why does his agent list him as a "trialist" at different clubs on his resume? It seems an odd angle to take - I wouldn't think many clubs would care much about where a player trialed unless they received a contract offer.
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden Som news: Etchu made his debut with Ljungskile today in a preseason game against the norwegian team Sparta Sarpsborg with the number 16 on his back. He played from start as a central forward in 4-3-3 system. He played 63 minutes He didn't make such big impact on the game, he showed that he can run fast. Like when he got free from the midfield line (don´t know if that is the right word) but the defender catched him just before he was about to shoot. But this is only the first game with the club, and he his new in europe and sweden, and the turf on the indoorpitch wasn't the best. And the players have been training very harde the latest weeks. And Etchu hasn't trained so hard before. So hopefully can he perform when has settled in the club and sweden. I hope you did understand a little. I'm tired.
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden Yes, the Americans can definitely run fast. Now, it's up to the Swedes to teach Etchu to handle the puck - OK, the soccer ball - like Anders Hedberg.
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden Anders Hedberg? All the skillful modern Swedish hockey players and that's the name you drop? Go back to watching the Golden Girls, old man!
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden Fan TV that made the interwiev is an webchannel made by fans, so the result of an interwiev can be kinda bad somtimes.
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden I was going to say Forsberg at first but Hedberg was soo smooth, even more so than Nylander, Naslund or Alfredsson. BTW, the "Golden Girls", huh? They must not be a day over 80.
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden One of my biggest Bigsoccer peeves is people comparing soccer and soccer players to other sports and other sports stars. It is stupid. No sport is quite like soccer. (Except for futsal).
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden No idea what bandy is. But you have a point about goalkeepers. My comments were more focused on the other ten players.
Re: Etchu Tabes adventures i Sweden I played bandy, soccer and hockey in the field (no boards - open ice, snow, field, etc). There are a lot of similarities between games. A lot. It's different in American sports with football being totally unlike baseball being totally unlike basketball. Bandy, ice hockey and soccer intersect more closely.
