It's a shame that so very little is said about the war crimes and brutality that Syria has suffered. The videos about the prisoners are heartbreaking but there's much more.

I'm sure this will go well...

With the US scaling back their support for the Kurdish rebels, especially against the Turkish backed rebels, they reportedly turned to Israel for assistance. Israel has been very vocal about their support for the Kurdish rebels since the fall of the Assad regime. Well, today, it seems that the Kurdish rebels asked Israel if they would provide air support against the Turkish backed rebels. Either Turkey heard about that request, or Israel carried out an attack, but Turkey announced that they are ready to attack Israeli aircraft if they do provide support.

Gotta feel for the Kurds in Syria. They are about to get steamrolled and ethnically cleansed by the Turkish backed rebels.

The other thing we can do is to post the user-account name for the post/Tweet if someone wants to see it on X-Twitter.

So, for example, we can post wwwdotxdotcom + /tobiaschneider/status/1865824315414925366 and someone can type/paste/splice it together in the URL to take you to the tweet (or what we formerly called the tweet until Elon came along)

If you post the whole URL, the BigSoccer app will treat it as a link and then give the invalid tweet id caution when the app can't correctly link to X-Twitter

I've mentioned this "invalid tweet ID" problem to moderators but I haven't heard anything about fixing it. I wondered if it has something to do with the BigSoccer code condensing the tweet ID to the number and ignoring / erasing the user-account name, but I really don't know

I'm not on the technical staff, but I don't believe it's a BigSoccer problem. I believe it's a Twitter / X problem. Twitter used to be run by people who cared, and now it's not, so sometimes things don't work or only work intermittently. I don't think there's anything BigSoccer can do to get tweets to show up more reliably.

Yeah, we’ve discussed this at length. @The Jitty Slitter has confirmed it is Twitter’s fault. Bigsoccer runs on Xenforo, and all Xenforo sites are having the same issue apparently.

I’ve asked about embedding Bluesky “Skeets,” but have also gotten crickets in return. Whatever might work on a website or blog can’t be done in the basic coding here.

For all the flack that Israel get about ethnic cleansing - some of it deserved - they are nothing compared to Turkiye. Those guys have gotten away with multiple genocides in the last century and yet they are in the EU and NATO.

There's been a minor rash of these. Calls for unification with their brethren in Israel aren't that common but demands for a secular/non-sectarian Syria with federalism abound.

The Druze have their own memories of persecution and massacre down the centuries in the name of Islamic purity, etc. so the idea of an ex-jihadi-led government can't be expected to receive a warm welcome from them.

How HTS and Jolani deal with them will say a lot about Syria's trajectory.

Turkey just won't be accepted by the others and won't want to either.

The changes in governance necessary will be too painful for any Turkish government.

I don't think there has been any actual pictures of Assad in Russia, has there? The ones in the media are stills from old videos.

I know he has billions in Western money in Russian banks, so if he is there and free he's stylin', but maybe he's not free. If he's even there.
