So, what in this was a challenge of what I posted? And actually I ddidnot react to this mindless post, until you mention the thing I posted about the landgrab. So the socalled MO is absent. Making up things you're good at, arenot you? The slur thing is just another example.
Guess you refer to which was mocking your fellow poster's comment: Try to keep up with what your supporting posters write. Anyway, your endless litany of lines only show that you yourself do all the things you accuse me of. The only thing that might be in line with what you accuse me of, the quoted intellect part above, in fact was a joking reference to what your buddy posted, but you even managed to miss that too, or found it very convenient to use it as a stick to beat. And can we now get back to what this thread is about and not continue in here with this shit? I suggest you DM me if you got issues, but the eagerness with which you make your posts get longer and larger, despite this makes it wishfull thinking.
Lots of reports of Syrians across the region flowing back into Syria after the fall of Assad. I've seen videos/images from both Lebanon and Turkey showing long lines of vehicles heading back into Syria. While I'm sure their host countries are largely happy to see the millions of Syrians leaving their country, I can't help but think they are being pre-mature with the future of Syria's government still very much in question. https://bsky.app/profile/maks23.bsky.social/post/3lcuxdjcarc2e
I made a statement. You challenged me to explain or justify it, which is legitimate. I did so, repeatedly, which is good manners. I cannot understand it for you and it is neither legitimate nor good manners to demand, repeatedly, that I do so The discussion/thread derail is ended
It seems like Assad got multiple overtures from Erdogan and the US over the last year or so to find a diplomatic resolution to the problems he was having with the rebels and Assad rejected them. I'm not going to say these were good options as the US wanted Syria to start blocking arms shipments from Iran to Hezbollah and Turkey likely wanted Assad to do something about the Kurdish held region rather than the tacit agreement to leave each other along. With the negotiations failing, HTS leadership contacted Turkey and told them that they had tried Turkey's path of negotiated power sharing and that it had failed, so now they wanted Turkey to let them try a military solution. Turkey was initially opposed to this, but HTS, apparently, told them that they didn't want Turkey's help, just wanted them to step aside and let things unfold. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/how-syria-rebels-stars-aligned-assads-ouster-2024-12-08/
This is stupid. The US and Turkey are also targeting the factions they don't like. If you criticize Israel you should criticize the others and also weigh in that only Israel has been actively attacked through Syrian airspace.
No. It's not that they were afraid of hitting the targets due to Russia, its that Russia had a modicum of control on the use of the weapons against Israel with Assad running the country. Assad was the devil they knew and a devil that Russia could largely keep in check. Jolani's only benefactor is Turkey and, even then, Turkey doesn't really have a lot of control over Jolani. This latest round of attacks is to keep Assad's weapons from falling into the hands of anti-Israeli forces that could use them against Israel.
Suupporters of a fascist. DJT is the fascist. But some may, in fact, also be fascist. And spell it "fashest"
I'm actually going to take the traffic jam as a good sign. As the regime was failing, Assad pulled the troops at the border crossings and closed them. The fact that there are traffic jams means, to me, that there is now some kind of border control instituted by the new government and not just an open border anyone can cross without slowing down.
The impression I got was that the traffic jams were due to the volume of vehicles trying to cross the border.
What makes you so sure that's the reason why "we lost" ("we" apparently excludes "you")? The other side has felt free to call the Democratic half of the country "socialists" and "traitors" for years and that didn't stop Trump from winning twice. What's the evidence? I haven't even seen anecdotal evidence of it on X-Twitter, but there are gleeful Trump supporters who think "ordinary Americans" rejected the Democrats' embrace of radical transgender policies. "Fashy"?! A few years ago on Twitter, someone made a point which I'll try to approximate The problem isn't with calling fascism "fascism", or calling fascists "fascists", it's that the whole point of calling something fascist is to do something about it, to ask what has to be done about it, and that pretending it's an ordinary election isn't going to cut it. People do elect — in democratic elections — fascists, Nazis, communists. Authoritarians. And when we're up against authoritarians, you can't defeat them by counting on convincing people every election that you can do a better job of getting the trains to run on time. Sooner or later, there's going to be a recession on our watch. Or a terrorist attack. Or something happens in the Middle East
It’s simple - don’t change people’s names to be insulting and we won’t have this thread derail. Both of yall should use ignore or run the risk of losing access to this thread.
This is an interesting diagram. Per the X post, one big reason why Putin wanted to control Syria was to prevent Gulf states from building a competing pipeline to Europe.
Well maybe they should learn how to vote in their best interest rather than just to assuage their fragile little egos.
The one thing Assadists, Iranians and the Sunni opposition agreed on was "death to the Jews". Remove/fatally weaken Assad and there's a stronger, richer and unsanctioned government in Damascus that'll buy/build more missiles and make more gas to aim at Israel. Assad gassing his own people is repulsive but most of his own people (Druze and Kurds excepted) will happily support a new leader who'll gas you if he's gone. At the moment him gassing his Sunni means he can't gas you. A not-Assad won't gas his people but may gas you later if he can get away with it. Would you knock Assad off? Really? Knock Assad off and rely on the Druze and the Kurds to block the new guy gassing you? You'll set them up for ugly persecution at best, being gassed first at worst with an open or latent civil war that you'll be blamed for as your "sweet spot". Still think "bunch of shitstains" is appropriate?
1865824315414925366 is not a valid tweet id Tobias Schneider I don't think the Israelis feel particularly threatened by the smoking husk of a state that rebels are about to commandeer. But they also don't expect to make any new friends, so they'd make sure that whoever takes power in Damascus will have to start from scratch.
That's precisely what I've heard in every podcast on this topic thus far. It's a low likelihood a new Syrian regime will be friendly to Israel. I guess we will see soon enough when the question of Golan Heights is asked.
With the double vowel it sounds Dutch. I thought the communists used “comrade”. In Argentina the Marxists used the word "camaradas" to refer to each other, as a direct translation from the English "comrades". But in Cuba they used the word "compañeros”, because that’s what Che called his fellow revolutionaries. Che borrowed the word from Perón, who used compañeros to refer to his Peronists supporters.
