Wow, has it been that long?

First off, you remember a talented FCZ-junior called Raoul Mutter? He scooped all kinds of awards for both the youth FCZ squads and our U15/16 a while back. Anyway, a year a go FCZ U18 played Basel U18 and he got a REALLY bad injury and his promising carreer looks like it's over before it even started.

    Now to some positive things.
Nassim Ben Khalifa, one of our very few striker talents, got his ASL debut for GC.
Morganella will give his Serie A debut vs Torino, due to injuries in Palermo.
The U19s beat EStonia with 6-0 in a friendly.

The U18s beat Belgium in 2 friendlies a few weeks a go.

The U17s are in the 2nd qualification phase for the EC. They beat Poland 1-0 a few days a go. They meat Slovenia tonight in the final game and they need to win by a few goals t pass Greece (lead by goal difference) who plays Poland.

I think there were two matches yesterday, the U-21 beats the German U-20 2-0 (Nikci, Frei) and the U-19 beats Estonia 6-0

really tough. The French are usually very strong physically at this age already... But I'm very interested to know our own U-17 a bit better. There looks to be quite some potential in there ...

Difficult, but I think the YNT should be able to compete.

U16 with a 7-2(!) away-victory vs Sweden. Basel's Savic with 4 goals. This comes after a 5-1 defeat to the Czech Republic

The U17s are playing France in the first game in the EC right now. I'll try to get the result asap

EDIT: 1-0!! Ben Khalifa of course

1-1, 4 minutes before full time...

    FT
It seems France were a bit more dangerous. But still, when is this nation going to learn how to defend a lead?

Re: Swiss Youth National Teams 2007/08 [R]

We're topping the table now as the only team in the group with a win.

    http://www.uefa.com/competitions/under17/standings/round=15207/group=701124.html

Last game vs. Spain could be tricky since they must win.

As the group might end with a few team on equal points, here's the official rules

    Equality of points at mini-tournaments
6.09 If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group
matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the ranking of the
    teams in question:

    a) Higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the
    teams in question.

    b) Superior goal difference resulting from the group matches played among
    the teams in question.

    c) Higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the
    teams in question.

    d) If, after having applied criteria a) to c), two teams still have an equal
ranking, criteria a) to c) will be reapplied to determine the ranking of the
two teams. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria e) and f)
    will apply.

    e) Results of all group matches:
    1. Superior goal difference.
    2. Higher number of goals scored.

    f) Drawing of lots.
6.10 If two teams which have the same number of points and the same number of
goals scored and conceded play their last group match against each other
and are still equal at the end of that match, their final rankings will be
determined by kicks from the penalty mark (Article 16) and not by the criteria
listed under 6.09 a) to f). This rule is applicable if a ranking of the teams is
required to determine the group winner (qualifying round and elite round) or
the runners-up and the third-ranked team (qualifying round).

    7
    Drawing of lots
6.11 If on completion of a mini-tournament a draw is required, the lots are drawn
in the teams’ hotel after the final match. The draw is made by the UEFA
match delegate and the heads of delegation or team representatives must
sign a document stating that they accept the result of the draw.

This hasn't been mentioned.. Our very talented U18s lost to Luxembourg 0-1.
To our excuse, we were missing a bunch of key players. But still...

The U19s looking very good in the 2nd phase of the EC qualifications. First a 3-1 win against Sweden and today they crushed Ireland with 6-1

The U21s bagan the 2011 EC qualification with a 2-1 win against Armenia. Derdiyok and Gashi with the goals. The other teams in the group are Turkey, Ireland, Georgia and Estonia.

EDIT: We need a new thread

the U-19 now qualified for the Euro with a 1-1 draw against Belgium in Belgium... Against Ireland, substitute Pasche scored twice and gave the assist for the 6th. I wonder for how long he will stay at Lausanne. Unsure whether he finishes school this summer ? And wondering if Man Utd is still interested

We need a new thread, this still says 2007/08

Anyway, the U19 EC begins tomorrow. From a Swiss point of view this has to be the most interesting championship in a few years.

24.07.2009 um 17.00 Uhr Slowenien – Schweiz in Donetsk, Metalurgh Stadion

Especially looking forward to seeing these guys.

Orhan Mustafi: Has already shown promise and with Streller and Frei as his mentors I think he'll progress quite a bit.

Fabio Daprela: A new guy for the left back slot is long overdue, he's got plenty of ASL experience.

Francois Affolter: Came from nowhere and has kept his place in the YB starting XI for a whole year now.

Daniel Unal: Usually outstanding in our youth teams. Surprised he didn't come thru at FCB last year.

Alexandre Pasche: Maybe our biggest under 21 talent.
