FC Meyrin has just broken ground on a new stadium right next to Stade de Bois Carre: http://www.fcmeyrin.ch/galerie travaux.htm Xamax: La Maladière is slowly progressing. There is a webcam here: http://www.2000neu.ch/index0.php?id=899 Pictures are here: http://www.2000neu.ch/index0.php?id=886&page=13 Any recent pictures of the new FCSG stadium?
Plenty: http://www.fcsg.info/pages/stadion/neues-stadion-bilder.htm PS: I didn't know that Meyrin is working on a new ground. capacity?
I am not too sure. I think that the current one has a capacity of around 2k. I assume with this move, Meyrin is hoping to stay in the CL for quite some time. Regarding FCSG. Have they actually started construction? I also thought I read that Aarau was going to get a new stadium. Any news about that?
Here is a very good article about Stade de Suisse Wankdorf and how YB hopes that it will help them contest FC Basel for the title. http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-wankdorf&prov=reuters&type=lgns
And it will be finished in just a little over 2 years, quite fast for a relatively big ground. Just hope the Zürchers can hurry it up a bit
Sadly no. There was a press conference a while back. The residents won't stop fighting the construction permit in court and time has basically run out. FCZ will finish the current season in the old Letzigrund (while construction begins) and will then play next season at the Hardturm. By the summer of 2007 the new Letzigrund should be done and both teams will move there. By that time the legal circus should be over and hopefully construction on the football stadium can begin.
I ran accross this great website the other day. www.stades.ch Every stadium from the 2nd Interregional League and up, plus many in the even lower divisions.
FC Aarau: Mittelland-Park The Aarau public today voted NO to a 25 million credit for the new stadium & shopping complex. Sadly the whole project now appears dead and this puts FC Aarau in a huge dilemma. The Swiss Football league has stated that it would like all ten Super League clubs to be in adequate stadia (or have concrete plans for one) by the 2007/2008 season, or else a club could face relegation. The Brügglifeld (like other stadia in the league) currently has a special permission that expires in in the summer of 2007. If Aarau don't have plans for an upgrade or new ground by then (it doesn't have to be built by that date), then forced relegation could happen for the club.
Re: FC Aarau: Mittelland-Park That is not good news for Aarau. Any idea if there are other possibilities?
Re: FC Aarau: Mittelland-Park The situation is pretty unclear at the moment. The Brügglifeld is in the middle of a residential area so an upgrade would be difficult to do. It would also be a waste of money in my opinion. For a new stadium it looks like Aarau will need a private investor, but those usually won't pay for a stadium that is used once every two weeks unless they can build a shopping center or apartments as part of the complex. Those "extras" in return will cause sometimes fierce opposition (as seen in Zurich.) One thing is for certain, Aarau has no future in the ASL if nothing gets done, and will face relegation one way or another.
Re: FC Aarau: Mittelland-Park News out of Aarau: plans have surfaced to build the stadium in the same place without shopping center. Instead the appartment complex is supposed to be expanded. It's all still very vague, but at least something is happening. While we're at it, this is the planned new stadium in Thun (capacity 10,000.) As far as I know it also has to pass a referendum.
Re: FC Aarau: Mittelland-Park Good news on both fronts. That stadium in Thun looks perfect for that city. I am going to merge this with the staduim thread.
Meyrin has finished a training field with synthetic turf. Their new main stadium is being construnced as we speak. I think the expected date for completion is next fall.
Does anybody have any good pictures of the future expansion of the St - Jacob Basel Stadium? I can not find any good one (30,500 to 42,554 spectators) Thanks
Guys, I have a good question for you: What is the stadium that impress you the most so fare in Switzerland? Here are my choices: 1. Best fans - St Jacob stadium, no doubt 2. Best outside look - A tie between Stade de Suisse (Bern) and Stade de Geneve 3. Best architecture from the inside - La Pontaise in Lausanne No seriousely, without a doubt, Stade de Geneve
Construction on the new Letzigrund has started: After the end of the FCZ season, the old stands will be destroyed... (right now it's just construction on the outside)
