Well it's certainly been a sad state of affairs in the Cups in recent years. Losses to Vale, Orient and Northants - blech!

We haven't had a "good loss" in the League Cup since a second round defeat at Aston Villa in 04/05.

We haven't advanced to the third round since 03/04 when we were in "League One" -- we beat Cheltenham away and Sheffield United away before losing to Man City at Loftus Road.

Looks like Coventry, Birmingham, Forest and Sheffield United might overcome upset bids and go into the hopper for the draw later this evening. Guessing United and Brum will be the last two seeds.

Carlisle, in League One, won away at League Two Shrewsbury yesterday, 1-0.

They opened their League One season with a 3-2 win at Bristol Rovers.

Carlisle finished fourth in League One last season. They beat Leeds 2-1 away in the first leg of the playoffs, but then lost 0-2 to them at home to get knocked out.

Looks like we drew one of the strongest opponents from a lower league.
