The article actually says that the ones not in the top 10 are listed alphabetically. That's the only reason why FCD is listed above Houston.

Still ridiculous that Houston is lumped in with places like Frisco,Kansas City, San Jose and below ones like Columbus, Philly, and Colorado.

The article says they polled players throughout the league. No idea what that really means in terms of how many players they polled or how many responded.

Houston is not being touted because of our fall in form the last year.

If they had this survey in 2006 and 2007 we would be at the top. I remember a lot of player interviews at that time mentioned that they didn't like to play here.

I can remember DCU and Chicago when they were dominant, crowds there were intimidating - not as much anymore with their dip in form.

I "love" the ambiguity of the explanations.

    <Insert weather/field condition/geography> makes <insert stadium name> tough. <Insert SG names> are great.

That is ridiculous. If thats what the players really think, we need to make it pure hell for them. I'll bring batteries if it will get us on the list.

Of course, the article doesn't provide conclusive evidence about whether separating or concentrating your SGs is necessarily the key. It suggests that the separation of LAG's three different SGs at the HDC helps. It also suggests that the concentration of the various Columbus organized support helps in that case. FWIW, LAG is ranked higher than Columbus.

Does anyone know a place to buy a solid noisemaker? Not a vuvuzela, of course, but something will create a presence. I've looked at a couple places online, but searches for "soccer noisemaker" or "football noisemaker" tend to return sites about the vaunted vuvuzela. Any ideas for something that can help bolster noise from the crowd?

Although it doesn't mention it in the article, I bet Robertson has a lot to do with our low ranking.

The combination of about 10,000-12,000 empty seats per game plus the fact there is no roof makes the stadium not very intimidating.

Once we move into our own stadium EB and TA's noise will be amplified and people will be closer together thus creating more buzz/drama.

I remember the electricity in the West Conf final versus Kansas City. The crowd really had a hand in that game breaking down KC.

the ultimate demotivator: the kazoo. The drive-by kazoo-ing by Atlante fans in Cancun is gonna be one of my fondest memories supporting the Dynamo on the road LOL

Meh, can't argue too much with our ranking. Seems both SGs spend most of their time urging the players on rather than for the opposition to f*ck up...unless Dallas (or Philly now I suppose) is in town.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmKKL9X4USg"]Still some rare instances of it happening[/ame]. Always did like screwing with players' head. Hope it happens again.

This list is mostly crap though.

Mine works for 20 minutes and then it is gone for 24 hours :(

When I was younger I could shout the whole game and nothing would happen, I need to learn how to use my stomach to project my voice.

I like supporting players rather than messing with other players, the experience is better that way, besides:

Intimidating visiting teams is in today's soccer world a fairy tale, something fans tell their grandkids, most pro players can tune out the stadium after a few minutes or at least get use to it, playing in a field you don't know that much affects more.

True, but I can still remember the SGs having choice words for Sala who had zero problem responding in kind.

So long as people are entertained, alls cool

It looks like the Sons Of Ben are making the trip down for opening day. I know one way we can make our place more intimidating...

As long as no one is offensive or racist in their remarks, I believe everything and everyone on the other team is fair game, I do believe that a combination of chants and booing of he other team makes for a great experience, just booing, trying to pressure the only team, gets boring real fast.
