I say they setup a stage behind the supporters section and have an official Mummers band of the union? Your thoughts?

Ancestors are from Liverpool - the main reason I picked them.

Tho with so many bands it might be nice to spread around the wealth and have several different mummers bands playing.

It'd be way too hard to coordinate songs.

All the bands pretty much play the same songs.

It would be nice to spread it around - but I have to agree it needs to support the game.

    Fail!

It would probably best to have our own band if we were to have any. It would be much more simple to coordinate it that way.

I think we need a mummers band to walk us in for the first game.

    That would be appropriate.

They've played us in to everything else.

You will be happy to know that the SoB are currently working with the PASB to record songs.

Not only is it unique but it is part of the area tradition and our idenity. It would also add a nice look to our team/ club. I could also take to my band (Irish American String Band) about playing for us as well.

I think having a band is great idea for two reasons.

    1. US National Team band with that Captain America Tuba player was awesome in Philly and Giants stadium. Nothing but positive energy.

    2. I am watching Sounders-Barca and the Shockwave band is great, even though they don't play as much as the US band, they are great plus they drum throughout the game.

I know that coordinating songs can be difficult, but I am sure that it can be done. If it is the Mummers, cool. If not, still cool.

I like the idea of a Mummers band performing for games -- at least as part of any marching to the stadium and/or with pre-game/halftime/post-game. Maybe during the game, but only if they can coordinate with the SOBs and other supporters.

It would probably be cool to simply rotate between various Mummers bands.

I started this thread. I would like a killer band. I could live with or without the mummers. However, I do think the mummers would bring out more people to games. Their style can be tweaked to support the game environment.

Agreed. No Mummers for me either. I find their sound best described as weedy, and would not want to hear it at Union games. I'd rather have the vuvuzelas...

This seems to be the consensus so far.
