    From the league office:

NEW YORK (Monday, January 23, 2006) – Major League Soccer today announced that the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. ET via conference call from the League headquarters.
All players who were eligible and not selected in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft – which was held on Friday, January 20 – and additional players nominated by teams will be eligible for selection in the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft. The Supplemental Draft can be followed via the DraftTracker on the League’s official website www.MLSnet.com.

The original order of the four-round MLS Supplemental Draft is the same as that of the MLS SuperDraft, which is determined from the reverse order of finish following the 2005 season. Teams have until Wednesday, January 25 at 4:00 p.m. ET to submit players to be added to the eligible player list. The complete list of players will be available on Wednesday after 4:30 p.m. ET on www.MLSnet.com.

MLS teams may begin pre-season training on Monday, January 30, 2006. MLS Cup 2005 finalists, the Los Angeles Galaxy and New England Revolution, have been granted permission to begin training this week as they prepare for the CONCACAF Champions Cup Quarterfinals two-leg series beginning on February 22 and 23. The Revs will face LD Alajuelense and the Galaxy will match up against Deportivo Saprissa also from Costa Rica.

All MLS teams must be in roster and salary compliance on March 1, 2006 (18 Senior Roster, 10 Developmental Roster, 4 Senior International players).

The following is the current order of selection for the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft (as of 2:00 p.m. January 23).
NOTE: MLS will impose a trade moratorium beginning at 4:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, January 25 through the conclusion of the Supplemental Draft.

Will we trade the first round pick for the other half of the partial allocation? ;)

If he's available, I want the Revs to pick up Jeff Rowland. Noonan-esque.

More like a lighter weight version of a James Beattie (Everton), perhaps. He's a very direct type player and doesn't have Noonan's range.

I'd like to see us get a better alternative than Khano Smith up front.

Agree. Looks like Buzz has put up his usual thought provoking list of candidates, which includes Rowland.

I was looking more along the lines of Nicol can develop him and he has the nose for goal the same way Noonan does.

Okay, I understand that "every thread in BigSoccer is sarcasm", BUT ...

the fact that Chris Klein was had for a partial allocation is a pretty good indication that many folks are underestimating the value of the "P.A.".
I think the Revs addressed their needs at forward in the regular draft. I would think they'd be looking at other positions in the supplemental (midfield, defense AND gk).

Of the guys listed on 3rd degree, Daniel Wasson might be of interest for his versatility.

C'mon Bob, that's why I had the little smiley after my comment.

But ... someone did post the list of most recent players that a PA was used on, and it wasn't exactly a Who's Who ... and all we have to go by is the past until we hear an actual name.

I'm a bit surprised at the lack of conjectural posts about tomorrows Supplamentral Draft. We have four picks. It will be interesting to see if SN et al can mine another Andy Dorman from whats left in the pool. I am aware that the Revs did ask for a non-combine player to be added to the pool after their mini-camp tryout so they do have some specific targets.

God, it's tough enough to post about our regular draft since in general the team does what no one expected it to. Conjecturing about this seems kind of pointless I guess.

Probably even more surprising, the conjecture ends up on a Dallas site. 3rddegree.net suggests the player you're referring to is a defender by the name of John Mariscalco, who's on the draft list. He was apparently a 4 year starter for Butler, a former U17 All-American, and All League/All Regional Selection in 2004. According to MLSnet.com, his older brother was drafted by Dallas in 2003. Looks like he's played at least 3 (and maybe 5) years in the PDL, the last 2 with Chicago Fire Reserves.

Nicol's comments in the Soccer New England article spoke to looking for some defense in the supplemental.

From the list of draft eligible players on MLSNet, that would include:

Player Affiliation Position Age Ht Wt City State Country

Luis Aguilar San Francisco D 5'8 150 Palmdale CA USA
Bryan Eisenbraun Ft. Lewis College D 6'0 150 Lakewood CO USA
Miguel Guante Portland D 21 5'9 Fort Huachaca AZ USA
Jordan Harvey UCLA D 21 5'11 170 Mission Viejo CA USA
Chris Lancos Maryland D 21 6'1 175 Middletown NJ USA
John Mariscalco Butler D 21 5'11 165 Dayton OH USA
Trevor Mceachron Old Dominion D 22 6'2 180 Woodbridge VA USA
John Queeley NC State D 22 6'2 177 Denver CO USA
Greg Reece South Carolina D 21 6'3 190 Clemmons NC USA
Dasan Robinson Dayton D 21 5'11 160 Elyria OH USA
    P.J. Scheufele Dartmouth D-M 22 5'11 160 Plymouth MA USA
Darren Spicer Princeton D 22 5'11 170 Diamond Bar CA USA
Daniel Wasson Tulsa M-D 21 5'9 175 Colorado Springs CO USA
Matt Wieland Creighton D 22 6'0 165 Omaha NE USA

I am removing these guys from our prospects because we don't have any YI slots left.
Willis Forko Connecticut D 23 5'10 168 Houston TX Liberia
    Liam Girrard Denver D 21 5'10 165 Victoria Canada
Anthony Noriega George Mason D 23 6'4 175 San Fernando Trinidad

I would put McEachron, Wasson, Queeley, Scott and Mariscalco on Nicol's short list. Scheufele might end up a lat pick becuase he is a local guy.

Why remove them? We have at least one SI slot available, and we have already placed YI's in SI slots. Besides, YI slots can be traded for, and who knows, maybe one of our players will get a green card.

I'd leave them in. We don't have to be roster compliant until March 1 so why not burn a pick on one of them if we think he can help and has a shot at beating out one of our other SI/YI's

I like Mofo Moloi a kick-ass DMF from UCONN.
With a name like that we just have to have him on our team. :p

And lets not forget that Avery John may well not be part of the team come opening day. He seems to be falling down the depth chart--and with his WC committments and SI status I'm betting he's either traded or cut loose onve SN sees what he's got after both drafts and spring training.

Sorry. Pat Scott is not on the draft list and was not invited to the combine, but 3rd Degree had him listed as a former teammate of Tony Lochhead. They led a 16 total goals against season in college.

    He may/may not be available.
