I just read elsewhere that the Supplemental Draft, originally scheduled for today, has been postponed. Something about ironing out problems related to MLS working agreements with lower leagues. Does anyone know the skinny, and whether it's been rescheduled?

According to the Quakes front office it's taking place this afternoon (3PM EST/ 12PM PST).

Something about ironing out problems related to MLS working agreements with lower leagues.

I don't know the specifics, but apparently there has been some friction between both MLS and the A-League, partially stemming from an incident where the San Jose E-Quakes allegedly approached Rochester Rhinos goalkeeper Pat Onstad without the Rhino's permission.

A report from MLSNET.com apparently indicated that Onstad’s name was on the player list for the MLS Supplemental Draft originally (and possibly still) scheduled for today. Apparently a few weeks ago (and apparently after the E-Quakes spoke to Onstad), the MLS club traded Devin Barclay to D.C. United to obtain the first overall pick in the draft which theoretically, they could use on Onstad.

But admittedly that's just one side of the story.

The Rapids got Vallow--no other names mentioned yet at MLSNet.

The Crew selected 21-year-old defender Ian Joy in the 2003 Supplemental draft.

The Crew had the seventh pick in the draft. The only other players selected in the supplemental draft were Brian Ching by San Jose with the first pick and Scott Vallow by Colorado with the eighth selection. Every other team passed.
