Superliga three years ago was 17, last year was 8th, this year back to 11th place,
Spain lost the leaded to Italy, Premier in second, Portugal behind Germany Bundesliga
Mexico with a big jump in 8th now, I wonder what position is the MLS, they should be in the top 25, but like Portugal find out many times its hard to get any respect, you can win the European CL, the Uefa Cup, the World Cup and still get no respect.

PASSOU DO OITAVO PARA O 11º LUGAR

    1. Itália, 594 pontos
    2. Inglaterra, 587
    3. Espanha, 482
    4. Argentina, 478
    5. França, 472
    6. Brasil, 453
    7. Holanda, 449,5
    8. México, 446
    9. Colômbia, 391,5
    10. Alemanha, 382
    11. Portugal, 373
    12. Grécia, 336
    13. Rússia, 322
    14. Chile 310,5
    15. Turquia, 309

IFFHS's calculation methods are very questionable from a realistic and mathematical point of view.

In other words, they could mean so much more if they were decently calculated. Nowdays they mean 0.

I wholeheartedly agree. I mean, look at the gap between #2 to #3 and then again from #8 to #9. The difference is huge. Really, are the Mexican, Dutch and Columbian leagues that far head of Germany and Portugal? I guess having teams in the finals of 3 consecutive European finals count for squat

The classification of the best leagues of the world is made objectively without any out side influence of any sort. We follow the criteria that the level of performance of a league is reflected by the best classified teams of that league who in turn usually represent their country in international club competitions. If one looks at the football power-houses of the world, one notices that regularly 4 or 5 clubs of their leagues are always competing in con tinental competitions. By adding the points won in all competitions by the five best placed clubs of each league, we have the points for the country which in turn helps to establish a fair classification. It is important to note that only the yearly classification is representative, since all competitions move along the whole season and over twelve months, we have an objective view of the best. This system has been used since 1991, and it is recognized today as the most precise in rating the leagues of the world.

I believe that if we look at the way our league performs in international competetion we deserve to be where we are. also this rating is on a yearly basis so what a perticular team did two or three years ago mean nothing.

We all agree that the way teams change in personnel every year, changes the team, no team is the same year in and year out.
And until our league start to get better results from other teams beside the top three we will always be clasiified lower than league that have four or five teams in international competition

When Spain has Valencia and Real playing for the CL title, they deserve to be #1. When Spanish teams don't make in out of the group stage or lose early in the knockout rounds, while the Italian and English teams make it to the semis and the finals, Spain rightly drops to 3rd!

Sorry this is the same rating system that ranked Porto higher the year they won the UEFA Cup then the year they won the CL. They could put Portugal #1 and it wouldn't mean jack to me just like when Fifa ranked us #4.
