The G12 or G15 (or something like that?) was what it was/is called, IIRC. Anyone have more details?

But it was called the G12 (or whatever) because there were only 12 teams total in the league.

I may have the name completly wrong - hopefully someone more knowledgeable can chime in and help us out.

its g-14, but i dont really see how the champs league would work if the best 18 teams are in one league... the champs league would be the top 4 teams from this superleague, and then teams from latvia, ireland and san marino, dont see how the champs league would be that good, the real champ would be who won the league

These rumors pop up every so often, usually the league is called the Atlantic League. The latest version would have the top 2 or 3 teams from Scotland, Holland, Belgium, Portugal, Norway, and Denmark play in a league starting in January. In the case of at least Scottish teams, this would involve the participants leaving the Scottish Leauge for the remainder of that season, and then return to the domestic league for the start of the next season. Aside from that, another crimp in the plan is that Norway and Denmark have already started plans with Sweden and UEFA for the Royal League, a Scandinavian league that would play during that same time frame, and would draw the top 4 from each of those domestic leagues.

The G-14 that bigtoga references is actually a grouping of the 18 "biggest" European clubs. (Real Madrid, AC Milan, Ajax, Liverpool, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, PSV Eindhoven, FC Porto, Olympique Marsaille, Paris St-Germain, Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen, Olympique Lyonnaise, and Valencia) Typically, whenever UEFA tweaks the format of the Champions League, it is done so that the G-14 don't create a breakaway "Super League", and cut the rest of Europe off from those profits. The G-14 has a website with more information at www.g14.com
