Jay and Ye could perform right now, rock the house and bring enough mass appeal to sell the show to Middle America. I mean, the crowd hears, "We're going to skate to one song and one song only" and they'll collectively lose their shit.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Cee-lo and LMFAO were the only ones I was interested in seeing. I don't think she looks great. I have never thought she was attractive. SHe used to be toned, now she looked very thin. Not waif thin but on the unhealthy side Has she gotten some work done there? cue the Reservoir Dogs opening scene. Save it for 2014 at the Meadowlands. The Jet fans have historically used halftime to break out the weed. Floyd would fit right in. I like Pearl Jam. They can give 4 songs that span the past 20 years and/or throw in a Who song or bring out Neil Young. Foo Fighters? Meh, unless Grohl throws in a Nirvana song.
Sadly, I think we may be heading toward country pop as future halftime shows. I can easily see Taylor Swift or someone like that next year for halftime.
The backup of once and current commercially huge acts is kinda depressing actually-- before you ever get to Swift there's: Garth Brooks Shania Twain Merl Haggard Dolly Parton The Judds Brooks and Dunn Alabama George Strait Randy Travis Now as for shows I'd like to see: Toots Hibbert Eurythmics Pretenders Emmylou Harris Steve Earle A couple of possibilities they seem to have overlooked? Bob Dylan and George Clinton...
How about Carlos Santana and Eric Clapton? They jam together often. They set up, bring out a bunch of guest stars and generally blow the roof off the place.
jam sessions don't work for 15 minutes. If that were the case, Phish would be playing the super bowl.
Who said anything about jam sessions? Between both of them they have more than enough hits to cover a half hour. They can bring an array of vocalists and other musicians out.
Shania Twain already did a SB half time show. They've done pop acts the last 2 after doing old timer rock n' roll acts the previous 6. I think after the Who debacle, they probably realized how awful sending a couple grandpas up there to rock is. But then, Black Eyed Peas was also a debacle too. I'm thinking sooner or later they meet half-way and go rockers-gone-quasi adult contemporary acts like the Chili Peppers or Green Day. Or maybe Hall and Oates?
I'm gettin' old-- I forgot that literally entirely. I remember the game clearly enough but I guess I thought that the halftime was the Backstreet Boys or Billy Ray Cyrus or something...had to look it up...
I am so old that when I went to bump this thread to see if I was too old for this part of the Super Bowl, I had forgotten that I bumped it for the same reason two years ago.
Honestly I have never even heard of weekend. Apparently they/he? Are a big deal..... recognized one of the songs, always figured it was Bruno Mars.... then I put it on mute.
Snoop, Dre, Eminim, Mary J Blige, and Kendrick Lamar to perform the next halftime show Depending on what songs they choose to do I think it could be a really good show. In my opinion the goal should be to avoid all their old hits and string together all their funk inspired songs.
