Sunderland are undefeated at home this season.

    Who plays right back?

I would just trot out the same team with no changes - except dom of course - as we seem super fresh and not tired at all.

    RB options?

Endo? Jones? Ramsey? Gomez (if fit)?

Assume Gomez is injured. Then it’ll be Jones, in my book. Unless Slot becomes an early adopter of Hughes’ 3-5-2.

Yup if Gomez can't go it's Jones. After that, Endo then the tea lady.

Tea-lady has a rib injury. Doubtful.

Slot was once again talking about taking over a team who played in the Europa League in his pre match press conference.

“If we don't have Champions League qualification, then it's definitely not been an acceptable season.

“When I arrived here we could only sign Chiesa and that was after a Europa League season. I'm completely aware of that.”

This is a load of nonsense. We were told a million times that we did not spend that summer because Slot and Hughes wanted to assess the squad they inherited. It had nothing to do with playing in the Europa League. In fact, the season after failing to qualify for thr Champions League, the club bought 4 new midfielders for a ton of money and also made a bid of over 100 million for Caicedo.

At every opportunity Slot continues to try bring up that he took over a club that played in the Europa League. I don’t know what kind of narrative he’s trying to create. He deserves all the credit in the world for what he did last season, but stop trying to convince us that we were some plucky underdogs when you took over.

    That’s a sign he’s losing it. We’re closer to 18th than 1st, and he’s trotting this out?

You can't convince me players are content being on bench and getting paid a lot of money. That is only for the ones who are at the twilight of their career or injury prone.

But there is no way you are convincing me that managers don't look for the sack at times.

Injury prone and at twilight of career. Has expressed multiple interests outside football as well. I was not suprised at all when Bale did what he did. Also the club played a big part in retaining him when Asrnsio got injured

    There's our ticket stamped -
    Chelsea and Utd boith draw...

Win tomorrow night and tighten this thing up. Utd have 4 of 4 toughish next games. Chelsea have 3 of 4 tough ones. Ours are winnable (given the correct focus).

Arne Slot asked if his job would be safe if #LFC did NOT qualify for Champions League: "The only thing I do know is that it happened before and recently (Jurgen Klopp in 22-23) and it didn’t affect the future of that manager. But that doesn't guarantee anything of course."

He added: "In general, managers especially at this club (are judged not just on league finishes). And at some clubs they also look at the progress the players make, the progress the team makes, the circumstances are sometimes taken into

I believe it’s exactly 1 year to the day since the late Everton “equalizer”. If you’re looking for a date when things continued to break, and break more, this could be it.

Usually for me, I don’t get worked up about team selection. It is what it is and I figure the manager always knows more than me, so I’m not too invested in the selection.

But, and there’s always a but, surely Ngumoha or Chiesa deserve a run out to see if either brings something different to the attack than the ineffectual Gakpo? Just don’t get the slavish allegiance to Gakpo unless it’s get the Hollander playing time for the WC.

My major objection is Curtis. He has been one of our best performers this season. He must have had a fallen out with Slot, because he hasn’t been picked and was off to Milan.

Mac Allister has been poor and leggy. Jones is the better choice in midfield. But if you’re going to pick a midfielder at right back, surely Jones is a better choice than Endo.

    Yes, very good point.

Though I have heard, Curtis gave him a poor review on Glassdoor.

Is that “No, Curtis is idiotic.” Or, “No Curtis, is idiotic.”? A sentence crying out for some commas… ;):)

Not sure Jones is a better choice at RB. Endo probably has more experience playing in the back line and can do a good job defensively.

But I would take Jones over MacA in MF.

Neither Jones or Endo are ideal as rb but once again we are patching things up at tha back.

While I'm not certain that Ramsay is better than either he is a natural rb and I'd like to see.

I predict 2 balloons to 1, to the good (always helps to be optimistic!)
