    Good riddance

It's about time. This should have happened a month ago. Wilkinson and Cotterill couldn't inspire anybody. In the games I saw they never appeared animated or excited on the sideline. They acted like they were in 10th instead of fighting the drop.
Mick is the man and he's the only guy that can fire up these walking corpses aka the Sunderland team.

Yes it is about time they got rid of Wilkinson. In my opinion they never should have fired Peter Reid. He gets them promoted, finishes in the top 10 for a couple years in a row. Been with the team for a long time, the has one bad year and they sack him. They showed him no respect. I would like to see David O'Leary take over, another manager who shouldn't have got sacked by his former club

Who do you think will take over now?

Who might want to might be a better question?

24M in debt and a ticket to D1, not an attractive post right now...

I hope O'Leary would be interested...

what is this infactuation with O'Bleary? IMO, he still has to prove himself as a manager.

i think he has proven himself to be a decent manager when he was with leeds, but not a great one yet. to be honest, his whinging, bad loser style in interviews always annoyed me, and i would have felt the same had he taken the sunderland job.

    rubbing salt into the wound

anyone know if the rumour about 1000's of Toon fans going to watch the Mackems last home game, just to wave them off to the Nationwide? Sounds a bit like when Coventry City came to their most hated rivals, us (Villa) & promptly got relegated! LOL. 1000's of sobbing Cov fans & 1000's of laughing Villa fans. Best part is that most Villa fans don't even KNOW that Coventry hate us, thus making their defeat even worse. HA HA.

If the rumors are out there, there also will be a high police presence. Newcastle visits Sunderland on the 26 April, and I would not be surprised if Newcastle supporters are banned from attending. This has happened on both sides in recent years.

i dunno if there's any truth in those rumours, but if there is i don't think many of them would make it out alive, unless they sat in the away end, and i cant see that many of them getting tickets in place of the arsenal fans.

i know what newcastle fans are like, though, and if they did something like that it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
