I don't know if everyone saw the post over in the MLS Forum, https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=30418 Bill Archer is quoted in a NY Times article on Fox Sports World.
it's a good article... if I was at a beach with FSW, that beach would only see me during the infomercials. here's the exact link. If it asks for member name and password, enter bigsoccer for both. http://www.nytimes.com/2003/01/26/arts/television/26BELL.html
FSW - Sports progaming for the UNcommon man. Thanks for the links, Sachin. I saw Blackburn/Birmingham (Stern John scored a great goal and Friedel was a wall), Chelsea/Man U (wow), and Farnborough/Arsenal (a great story line) on FSW this week. FSW is the spice that adds the flavor to the mashed potatoes and meatloaf menu US network programing provides. ESPN is still lost, IMO, in the miasma of meaningless US second division of semi-pro (college) sports. I spent no time being frustrated by the Middle Kentucky State vs. North Dakota Christian baskeball/football programming and have not spent a minute on the "Road to the Super Bowl Analysis - part 6" that has dominated the major media. Thank you FSW. Bill, I working on getting a digital cable converter box for my bedroom TV....the next frontier. I'll be glad to share winning stratgies vs. spousal resistance when I'm successful.
When ESPN broadcasts the first tier college sports, unfortunately they have to broadcast the "who cares" colleges as well. And, with college football also comes the softball, baseball and all those championships...or something like that. Rent a second cable box. That's the only way, I believe.
I've been watching FSW for over two years. It is simply indispensible. I only wish they would continue to show the Mexican, French and Italian leagues like they USED to do. Am I spoiled. I want to tell you a true story, listen: My wife is sweet, but sometimes she can be a bitch. I had borrowed a videotape of hers which I taped the 2002 US Open Cup* (which was aired {of course} on FSW), and I guess she got mad about it because she "accidentally" taped 'Dr. Doolittle' over it. And it was the frickin' Eddie Murphy version!!! The next three days, my thoghts alternated between DIVORCE or MURDER. Apparently, I made her life such a living hell that she emailed FSW, told them the whole pathetic story and tried to see if she could buy a copy of the match tape. Well, for some reason, they thought that this was the funniest thing they had heard, and due to the up-coming Xmas season and all, not only did they send her a studio dub of the Open Cup match (of superior quality of my poor Dr. Doolittled-copy), but they sent it FedEx along with a FSW black oxford. I tell ya, these guys are top-drawer! ------------------------------------------------------------- * important drama subtext:I am a HUGE Crew fan.
