I haven't seen it mentioned much but the Galaxy are the third team in a row to win the Cup after not qualifying for the playoffs the previous season. . With the Galaxy win, I think you are already seeing a shift in how teams are spending on a DP player, Miami excluded. Cincinnati signing a striker that's 23, led the Belgian league in scoring and paying a transfer fee of over 16 million seems to mirror what the Galaxy did.
As a lifelong Quakes fan, I've always been taught and trained to hate the Galaxy. I must say though that Greg Vanney did a tremendous job in bringing them from 13th in the West and 26th overall last season to an MLS Cup win this season. They seemed to dominate and control the game yesterday despite the close score line and played convincingly even without their star player Puig. Credit and kudos goes to Vanney and the LA Galaxy! You guys deserved it!
