We have absolutely no idea what the idea was with that one... Anyway, the up side is that once you've managed to get over the border to Vancouver, this trip is up there with the best as welcoming home fans & a downtown stadium make for a great weekend away. Strongly recommended. Centennial 38 has a viewing party at the Celtic Tavern, while the Springs Colonials will be gathering at Jack Quinn's. Stadium BC Place is a multi-purpose stadium located at the north side of False Creek, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It serves as the home field for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC of Major League Soccer (MLS). It was originally opened on June 19, 1983 as the world's largest air-supported stadium. In 2010 the stadium closed for a major renovation and reconfiguration & it reopened on September 30, 2011 as the world's largest cable supported retractable roof stadium. To / From Stadium The stadium is located downtown, 2 blocks from the Stadium-Chinatown SkyTrain stop. Airport Vancouver Airport (YVR) is located about 12 miles south of downtown & the stadium. United flies non-stop to YVR from Denver. To / From Airport The Translink SkyTrain Canada Line connects the airport with the downtown area every 6-7 minutes for CAD$5.50 one-way. The Airport authority Up Charges CAD$5 to the Ticket (to make a total of CAD$10) if you leave from the airport station; however, this can be avoided by buying a day pass for CAD$9 or a book of tickets from the 7-11 in the basement of the domestic terminal. The journey takes approximately 24 minutes & the SkyTrain picks up from various locations downtown. A cab to the stadium will cost about CAD$40.
