If we're going to track these can we include where the rumor/info came from? Even if its just "people I know in the FO"?
i would but its pretty thin, basically he followed me on twitter and a bunch of other mls fans. then he RT'd a tweet by mls rumors regarding the opening of the mls transfer window ... he may not be a rapids target so if he ends up not being one this can be moved
MLS Transfer Window opened today and 6 players were added to various teams. I believe with Smith close to getting Greencard that we will at least see one new face brought in for 2nd half.
Look for any cuts by the Rapids in the next 3 days as an indication. Sunday is the deadline for all semi-guaranteed contacts to become fully guaranteed for the rest of the season. So if Amarikwa or Nane or somebody like that is cut that will be a pretty good sign that they want to use the roster spot on somebody new.
What position/positions does he play? I'll I can find is a list of teams he's played for (Rosario Central in Argentina and Millionarios in Columbia are the highlights) and a birthdate (Sept 16, 1976)
Pure speculation on m part but Bravo did travel to South Africa and why I am posting this here. Maritzburg United are expecting an offer today from a Major League Soccer club who want to sign their Senegalese centre-back Mor Diouf. http://www.kickoff.com/news/29304/mls-offer-for-maritzburg-united-defender-mor-diouf.php
Looks like more than pure speculation. Although it appears to have hit a snag. http://www.soccerladuma.co.za/news/article/south-africa/rapids-initial-diouf-bid-turned-down
For reference, the $3 million South African Rand offer converts to $363,174 American Dollars, which is well withing the realm of the use of allocation money to get him. I wouldn't be surprised if we up the offer and sign him.
Reading the comments it appears popular opinion is he should/will sign with the flops. I have no idea what that means but it was fun to type.
Pulled this from Story- Since I work in Finance, Structure usually means time period it will be paid over. A source revealed, “Colorado made an offer of R3 million for Diouf, however the club weren’t happy with the structure of the payment.”
Looks like the flops or Sunflops is a derogatory nickname for South African side Mamelodi Sundowns FC. Guess it depends on if Diouf is really "keen for a move abroad" or if he's just using MLS as a negotiating ploy.
Maybe I am reading this wrong but his rights are owned by Maritzburg United and we are trying to buy player from them. Not sure how this could be a Negotiation ploy by player. Also: It is doubtful that the club will stand in the player’s way should a deal that they are happy with come in and they have already explained that they know Diouf is keen for a move abroad and that they are willing to help him in his quest if they can. A fresh bid from the Rapids is expected...
If he wants out and he (or the club I suppose) is just trying to raise his price to move to a local side.
Can allocation money be used on transfer fees? I thought it was for wages. I'm still pretty unfamiliar with MLS' transfer policies. Does a transfer fee affect the Rapids salary cap number?
My understanding is MLS treats Xfer fee's like salary. I think there is/ has been DP listed players who'se salary is well below DP amounts but xfer fee too them over.
Allocation money is pretty much the only way MLS plays transfer fees. AIUI allocation money used for transfer fees does not count against the cap, but if the fees were paid another way it does. Transfer fees are counted against a player's salary for DP-determination.
Nothing quite replaces the sound of a briefcase full of money clicking. It also takes away all currency risk.
Man, what would happen if Rapids traded Moor away on top of KK? From previous comments, Facebook might blow-up.
Can't see that. I don't know much about this guy but it does make me wonder what the plan is. If the Rapids are going to spend decent money it would seem to be more than just a move to add depth. I'm wondering if the plan would be to move Wynne to right back. I could see Freeman then being a "depth" player.
