So you suggest we spend £30M - £35M acquiring Lucio and Robinho, and then a figure equalling that to get one of Kaka or Adriano.

There is simply no reason on earth i could think of that Kaka would leave AC Milan to come to Arsenal. None whatsoever. He is ultra-settled, enjoying his football has the chance to win the Italian title for the 2nd year straight and has a infinitely better chance of winning the CL this season with Milan than if he were at Arsenal, and also significantly better prospects of winning it next season as well i'm afraid to say.

Adriano, if he is unsettled, would cost our entire transfer budget and would then still move to Chelsea as they would probably add an extra £5M to trump us in the bidding. Futhermore, Adriano is far more likely to move to Spain (and Real in particular as Ronaldo's replacement), if he were to leave Inter.

Are you suggesting that Arsenal are richer than Milan then?...

If you are, you're having a laugh.

no, but it depends on how much milan value kaka. we could easily offer him double the wage he's getting in milan.

They'll rate him as, one of the best talents in world football, one of the mainstays in an attacking force that could dominate for the next 5 years domestically and in europe, a fixture in the Brazilian national team, a world cup winner and as 22 year old with plenty of years to develop into an even better player.

Suffice to say Kaka's valuation is likely to be alot more than a packet of crisps and bacon butty.

    or Pires Gilberto Vieira Ljungberg...

It is the classic Arsenal 4-4-2. People say it's dead, and 4-5-1 is the way to go, but with the right players 4-4-2 will work, with the 2 CM covering when your wings are exposed by flying wingers...Vieira/Petit/Gilberto were hardly goal getters from open play, but they didn't need to be...

Is there a good web site that lists players across europe/world by position? Every once in a while (here and elsewhere) a player is mentioned that I'm not completely familiar with, and places like Soccernet list mainly those in the EPL or SPL. It would be nice to puruse a list of midfielders/keepers etc when considering how to fill some of the side's holes.

And similarly, is there a web site(s) that lists wages?

First move new keeper - Whos that Norwich keeper ?
    Second move - SWP
    Third move - Kuffor
Fourth move - Give ash the money he wants or sell him this summer his stock won't be higher then we can focus on clichy and just get cover for him.
don't waste time with Adriano he is following Ronaldo's footsteps to madrid.

You guys should really try to sign Kameni. It wouldn't surprise me if arsenal and manchester fight for him in the summer. IMO Kameni is already a top ten keeper, has insane reflexes and agility and is probably the best penalty stopper in the world. It's true that he makes some silly mistakes from time to time, but at 20 years old I think it's fair to asume that he will inprove in that department. Certainly, the way he has been playing so far this season I wouldn't be surprised if he became the best keeper in the world in a few years.

How big is he and is he good at dealing with crosses? Because if he can't deal with crosses than he's just a younger Almunia. And he would have to go play in the African Nations Cup every two years and you can't have a GK who leaves during the season for a few weeks.

Wenger should go for Andreas Isaksson. He would be a fool not to get the next Peter Cech.

    Isaksson isn't the next Cech.

I did see Canizares on the bench for Valencia recently. That doesn't say much, although this space was clamoring for Arsenal to sign him a couple of seasons ago. How would people like a move for Canizares in the summer?

I think the idea about Kameni is a good one but the African Nationa cup thing is a worry. Arsenals real problem is in defence but King is not the answer since for one THFC will ask for something ridiculous before parting with him to a fellow London club. You know they are still unhappy with the Sol situation. A good defensive setup will stop us leaking goals. Look at last year when there was hardly any mention of offloading Lehmann. This problem only surfaced because our defense hasnt been up to scratch this season.

Has anyone thought of someone like Dindane to provide Henry with a bit of support. Reyes should be offloaded and Dindane bought in till VanPersie can find his feet in the premiership.

Am i correct in guessing that all this Beasly talk is coming from our american freiends?

we need (as of after the Munich loss):

    (in order)
2 midfielders-one attacking, and one younger in the Viera mould
    1-2 defenders- nuff said
1 striker- to help out Henry, who is a lot better w/ good players around him
    1 Keeper

that should take care of the 30-40 mil we say we have over the summer. Now, who to get is the real question.

Interesting theory that Arsene would be looking for interior midfielders. With PV, Gilberto, Cesc, and Flamini, I'm more than happy in that department. Shame to see Edu go, but I don't think anyone wants him hanging around the club if he wants to burn his English dictionaries and move to spain.

It's great to see Senderos finally looking like the kid who Bayern, Real, and Liverpool were all drooling over a few years ago. Like Fabregas, he's got loads of talent but I wouldn't want to see him in the starting XI every week just yet. Kuffour, if he's available on a Bosman, seems a good fit.

It seems like not that long ago that Arsenal's worst problem was Lauren (ah, the good old days...). But with Eboue coming through, along with Hoyte, I wouldn't splash any cash in that area.

I'll be interested to see what Arsene does with his strikers next year. With Bentley, Aliadiere, Quincy, and Van Persie (not to mention Reyes), he's got a lot of young kids vying for the job, none of whom seem quite ready to fill it.

The most obious player seems to me as Kuffour as Wenger and the board are stupid enough not to spend the money we need to spend to get the players we need Kuffour suits us down to the ground as he is on a boss man freee

What about Kovac? He's better than Kuffour and will be free as well.

At Norwich, he looked a bit lightweight yet and similar to RvP and Reyes with suspect decision making. Great shot and great potential like them though. IMO Ali is the most polished up to this point.

How do you figure that? Didn't he get an improved contract?

http://www.playerhistory.com/ used to be a good site, but I just checked and it now appears you have to pay 20/yr to use it.
http://www.footballsquads.co.uk/ gives basic info on players

The reports on him BEING DOMINANT IN THE AIR made him seem the best fit to me as opposed to guys who were simply great shotstoppers, but I haven't seen him at all.
I think that was only a last-ditch effort by Ranieri to save his job. Wasn't Canizares restored by the new manager?

Folks on the Bayern Munich board said Kovac has an agreement with Juventus.
Bentley's development has been delayed by injury. He has been out for the year since around, what was it...October, I think.
Canizares or Isakson? I saw Isakson play during the Euros, if that's the same guy, and while he was solid I didn't get the impression he was in the least way extraordinary.
He did play this weekend against Real Madrid. Are Valencia going to be in the CL next season? Right now they are T-5th with a better goal differencial and only three points from 3rd.

Canizares is around Lehmann's age so there's no point in getting him. We would just have another situation like the current one in 2 years time if we get Canizares.

Isaksson atleast fits the description that Wenger wants in a GK. Big, Commanding and he has international experience. Plus he's only 23 and he was in Juventus' youth setup before leaving since no one would ever take over for Buffon there.

I was pretty impressed the last few weeks by Senderos, he has been really playing well, I am looking forward to see him playing next to Campbell.
I really think that AW is going to go after Michael Essien of Lyon, he is a fantastic player, multitalented. He can play in defense as well as a midfielder. He would be a fantastic addition and could bring relief to PV in the middle of the field.
He can score as well; he netted two goals against Werder Bremen this week in CL.
