I get the feeling the Sounders are rapidly becoming the general MLS team to insert whenever someone wants to start a transfer rumor about a player coming here. That's not to say the Sounders aren't going after all these players, there just seems to be quite a few rumors out there that involve the Sounders.
You rather it be LA or NY that gets all these rumors . Either way i'm getting tired of hearing rumor after rumor after rumor. I'm at the point of i don't care i just want to see an actually player announcement from the team that involves some forward.
I like the speed of the rumors! Many of these guys have actually shown up in camp and I'd be going nuts if we hadn't been attached to anyone at this point. Plus, even the crazy rumors attaching us to Forlan and whatnot gets our name out there into the World Football community.
Hurray we signed a forward. It's.... Pat Noonan. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/soundersfcblog/2015486086_its_official_pat_noonan_signs.html
Sounders Chasing Ulsterman Lafferty Yeah, yeah.. Chasing Lafferty, but forget that... Who is this big name DP we're going after at striker? Big name.. That's definitely not Sheridan.. Is there some legs to the Anelka rumor I started last week when some random Chelsea blog posted that Anelka was heading to MLS?
Was that before or after this weekend? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0BGS34CyuU"]Argentina vs Uruguay Penalty Shoot out Copa America 2011 - Quarter-Finals 16/07/11‏ - YouTube[/ame] Tevez would fit in nicely with our awesome PK takers.
i'm thinkin' maybe the Sounders are just waitin' until after Uruguay wins the Copa America to sign Forlan when his hype is at its highest...
Hmmm... Don't really know what to think of this.... http://www.canadiansoccernews.com/content.php?2009 Also read an MLSR tweet (from a trusted source) that Fucito is being actively shopped.
While I'm not surprised that they are being shopped, I don't see how they clear up salary cap space. They are all making league minimum, so are not impacting the salary cap... It would also explain why Fucito has disappeared from the 18-man roster. In order to reduce the salary cap, they'd have to be traded for allocation money, so... I'm also not convinced that we need Sturgis. We already have Seamon, Carrasco, and Evans/Friberg as CM back-ups...
As far as I can tell TFC is shopping Sturgis and spoke with Seattle as a favor to Sturgis. Seattle wanted full allocation (250k). TFC refused....
Sounds like it almost worked... Thank goodness for the allocation money request. It is, however, a little scary that an $80k salary is too much for the Sounders to bear in the salary cap arena.. Hopefully that is after reserving a couple hundred k for the DP striker.
It really seems Montano will not catch on. He might fetch some allocation money in return. Two years and basically nothing from Estrada, and I don't expect anything from him either. Cut him. Either commit to Fucito or Jaqua, I'd prefer Fucito stay but he needs to be better when playing with the 'senior' team. He seems to do just fine outside MLS matches. If Nate is going to be retained he needs to take a pay cut. No way he is still worth the money he is currently commanding. Noonan is another low output salary heavy player that just doesn't seem to fit into the long term plans. Based on current form I am not sure I see a need for a striker DP today. If the goals by committee is working and continues to work I am fine with focusing on what it would take to get Marcus in goal next year. I think we can assume that RBNY just pulled themselves out of the running for now, but they may still go for some sort of sign and trade. They need quality depth so maybe Noonan and Jaqua to RBNY for Hahnemann's rights is doable (not sure that the Bulls have that kind of space though). I also think Mauro may be in a for a pay raise next year, so we need to keep flexibility in those regards as well.
NY was never interested in Hahnemann's and can't afford him now. BTW marcus is joining the league again via allocation which means NY is 2 spots behind us.
I know that Marcus is coming back via allocation, my understanding was the RBNY was currently ahead of us in allocation ranking. I know that Soler was not interested in signing Marcus but that seemed more because he believed MH was headed here. Although I see now that WVHooligan shows you are correct. I must have misunderstood the interview that I saw. Okay so replace RBNY with CUSA, Houston, or TFC from my previous post I think someone is going to claim him before he falls to us if only because they know that A) He wants to play here B) We will need a keeper C) They can get something for him
Allocation order is: 1. Chivas USA 2. Philadelphia 3. Houston 4. Toronto 5. Chicago 6. Kansas City 7. Seattle Here's a link to an old list of the allocation: http://wvhooligan.com/2011/01/07/10015/update-mls-allocation-order-2/ Portland used theirs to get Cooper, DCU used theirs to get Davies, and NER used theirs to get Feilhaber.
