While he doesn't have any noticeable flaws he also doesn't have any noticeable spikes. I think it depends entirely on who partners him. Manolas is generally a reactive defender. He is good in the air and with blocking/clearances but his passing forward and ability to read the play and successfully intercept the ball is average.

I'm with @Ashur in being Team Koulibaly as he is more proactive in tackling/intercepting but adds superior forward passing and particularly long balls to the wings.

It depends entirely on the make-up of the defence. Manolas is solid enough and used to playing in a counter-attacking team but he would not add much to the transition or when he is possession of the ball. He is still better than anything we have.

Speaking of Koulibaly, according to the Telegraph, Wenger might make him his next signing after Xhaka. The article also claims that both Chelsea and United seem to be after him.
The fee mentioned is only 20mil pounds, which sounds like a steal frankly for him from my standpoint.

@SyedZada why should/shouldn't we be in for Hojberg?

Not a 6, cant play the deepest midfielder, may have application/attitude issues. Very good user of the ball, can retain it under pressure, good defensive sense.
    Good talent.

    edit:
Oh very good long passer and a decent shot on him. Good energy but may get out muscled.

About Götze's decision to stay: "It's difficult to assess the situation."

"I had discussions with him, as well as Ancelotti. He knows what the club and the new coach think. Maybe he just wants a quiet Euro."

"He has to ask himself: do I want consistent playing time?"

Bayern are trying to force Götze out. He wants to stay and get paid big on a free transfer next year.

Can he play the Sneijder role? Is he too damaged goods?

I like him as a player but I haven't seen many Bayern games this season so I don't know how he looked this year.

Maybe @SyedZada can shed some light this.

From what I have seen, he had given up this season. He is also a wannabe Beckham.

His last season at BvB and the start at Bayern were phenomenal

I have not seen too much, he is as lost under Pep as I expect someone who thrives on fast moving attacking with alot of movement. He wont solve the player who takes on players and create space for others problem but will solve incisive passing and movement problem in the final third.

Also its very hard to take the ball off Goetze by pressuring him, you either tackle him perfectly or block the movement around him.

It's been kind of sad to see someone who was so good in his last season with Dortmund, scored the winner in a WC final, to what he has become under Pep.
Can't believe that the talent is gone but it does beckon the question as to what happened to him and if it's just a case of not fitting into what Pep did/buried behind too many talented players or if it was something else?
He would worth the risk but certainly not for anywhere what he was worth a few years back. Loew keeps on picking him for Germany though at least, so there's that.

Gotze on form would comfortably be the best player in the premier league since Suarez.

Ibra asked about whether United made him an offer and he gives a big smile and says "we'll see".

There's a video of it floating around but he seemed to indicate that we had.

Edit: Rooney20 beat me to it.

We may have to wait a little while longer before Zlatan becomes official. He said he made up his mind on where he is going but will enjoy the Euro's.

No. I said It's not important to get a deal done before Euro's. If it was, i'd push the button and it would happen. There's time. I want to enjoy the things you write. There's a lot of stuff being written. According to someone I was supposed to be done in 48 hours. Someone else said it 90% here and 10% there so it's funny to follow. It's fun to find the rats who talk. The future is already set in stone

GOATze would be a terrific transfer. Young, full of talent and considering his current form not very expensive either.

    Sell Mata, get Götze.

Obviously we can't get him, but if we could, Benzema would be a great signing.

I don't think he's very good. Any chance of signing Dybala?

    No.

Tancredi reporting that we're in talks with Inter for Icardi. I think Icardi is good, but not sure if he's good enough. Would prefer Morata.

Saul Niguez's current release clause is 54mil pounds. Would absolutely be worth going after right now and the mere fact that Atleti seem desperate to sign him to a new contract, while significantly raising his release clause in the prospect, only reflects how much of a big time player they believe he'll be down the line.
