Liverpool announce they will be visiting the USA this summer. 25 July – v Sunderland GEODIS Park, Nashville 29 July – v Wrexham Yankee Stadium, New York 2 August – v Leeds United Soldier Field, Chicago I will most likely attend the one at Yankee Stadium, and want to bring by 7 year old daughter.
Might make the trip to New York. We've never been together so were already trying to find a time to go. Plus we both like the Wrexham series. I lived in North Wales, she loves Ryan Reynolds, each have our reasons of course not coming west of the Mississippi AGAIN. Oh well.
Keep in mind you may see very few of the international stars .... at least on the pitch as the World Cup will be exhausting players this summer.
I wonder if they’re going to bring the world famous Liverpool Peace Cup? In case they run into to anyone that likes to collect those things.
yeah, my entire summer budget went to getting WC tickets - my twins are going to be 10 and it's a bday present for them.
I'll give you a bonus value on that if I ever run into Infantino. By carving the image of a couple of my knuckles into his mug.
I'm not short of cash - but I'd still be pissed shelling out the kind of money they are extracting for tickets for this sport=cuckold thing - that is, if I had any interest in watching any of these games before the Quarter Final stage..... FiFa continue to disgust me.....
There are undoubtedly a lot of players who will be concerned about the safety of themselves - and even more so their families. Players get cloistered in hotels with little free time and are ferried from place to place -- whereas their family members will be on the streets like any other "ICE target" based on what they look like. I wouldn't blame them or be the least surprised if some decided to decline the call-up to the NT.
Last time I saw Liverpool in person was the Tottenham friendly in Baltimore so many years ago. It was horribly hot, and mostly the kids played, ending 0-0.
So true. I'm not sure if its the club which are to blame or some organization which sets up these pre-season tours but either way they prey on our loyalty and deep support for our clubs . We end up paying top dollar for glorified training games .
In my younger go out drinking every weekend days, we spent plenty of time in Canton and Fells, but rarely Federal Hill. Unless we went to J Patrick's up closer to Ft McHenry but I guess that's technically Locust Point?
Yeah - spent 3 years in and around the 8x10 and Cross Street Market and a year in Fells. Loved Baltimore.
it’s a money grab every summer. Fans want to see the stars, and the stars don’t want to be there are at all.
Actually I’d say it’s worse. No one from operations, i.e. the team and people surrounding the team, wants to be there; everyone from branding, market and finance wants to be there. I was briefly involved with bringing over Juventus and Fiorentina many moons ago (neither happened) and the way it worked then was a set fee plus a percentage of the box office over a certain attendance. Usually travel and accommodation is subsidized by sponsors. Juve in the summer of ‘94 was obviously subject the WC Organizing Committee. Italy were due to play their group games in Giants Stadium and DC as I remember, so we were told Juve couldn’t play any further east than Detroit. The only reason (other than money) is money! For those fans who cannot get WC tickets or find them too expensive, these tours are the poor man’s WC for the rubes in the US.
As with most things, back in the day these things were sometimes worth the effort. I saw both Liverpool v Real Madrid (in 2011, I think) and Barcelona v Man Utd and Barca v either America or a team made up of to Mex League guys back in 2010 or so But these games were at night, under lights and the big hitters played a lot. So, those were great!! Having access to a big hospitality suite behind glass (and for one of these games, at least, interchangeable passes to the inner press/dignitary food enclosure, compliments of our soccer group squadron leader's access to the high falutin' of the City of SF and Candlestick Park ... sure helped the the experience too.... But Spuds 2nds v Liverpool's 2nd on a muggy day in Baltimore - no thanks!
Wife and I decide to make this our big summer trip so are going back to New York to see the match in the... Wrexham end (ducks).
