Ideally Ronaldo's contract would have been dropped with more than enough time for the management to use this greater financial flexibility in ways that improve the squad overall. Since that's not the case, this squad is considerably worse than the one that finished 4th. There is no reality that losing Ronaldo improves Juve in the current state.

Since Juve were financially limited by Ronaldo's huge amortized cost, they were unable to massively improve all areas for three summers. Now with him gone, Juve are left with a roster that requires a player like him to win games out of nowhere.

Dybala, Morata, and Kulusevki are very good when in form but rarely are consistently playing well. We all know that the midfield is not a top 3 or 4 midfield in Italy never mind Europe. Winning the Scudetto is the hope while finishing top four is the objective.

Losing Ronaldo will no doubt hurt them with scoring goals but it will also help them save a lot of money.

They could use that money at the January window as well. Either way , it was either sell him now for a slight profit in transfer fee or lose him in June for nothing. Financially on paper anyway, letting him go now is better for the club,

It will take time to replace 3-4 midfielders, find 2 quality attackers, find future fullbacks to compete with Cuadrado and Sandro as they age, and discover a long term partner for De ligt. Ronaldo's contract limited Juve's ability to address these areas, but him leaving so late means they can't do so this summer and likely not in the winter either.

This rebuilding will take a while as a result. This team wasn't good enough last year and if we are all being honest without Ronaldo they wouldn't have finished top 4. So yes long term relieving themselves of his contract is required to rebuild, but short term it will be very painful. Juve don't have him to win them points in matches like today.

It’s still early and I’m sure they will come back. It’s going to take time for Allegri to build the team. Not sure about winning the scudetto but they could aim for a top 4 spot.

Allegri knows he will need time to get this squad up to standard. The midfield is absolute non existent. Even against crap sides you are not going to win without a proper midfield. Rabiot and Bentancour are not starting caliber midfielders. What’s going on with Arthur Melo? Since he came over he rarely ever sees the field because of injuries. Patience is running out. If you can’t be on the field then you must go like Pjaca.

Kean's medical is complete, now the focus is on a midfielder. Juve will be working round the clock until the end of the market. Witsel and Pjanic are the names being mentioned, out of those two I'd rather have Pjanic tbh.

Club has lots of round holes and too many square pegs. The dysfunctional nature of the various player pairings will be a problem all season long. Other than de Ligt, Chiesa, and now Locatelli are there any of the bunch worth keeping in the long term? They need a new keeper as well. There is no way that picking up a MF or two this transfer window addresses the long term problems and the finances are a continuing issue even with Ronaldo finally off the books. I hope the season can be salvaged but it's is going to be a real tough road and they will have to fight for every point as per yesterday's result.

We are a club in transition. Ronaldo both disguised our weaknesses somewhat, and also stymied and sucked up funds needed to complete the transition.

Perhaps if last year had been a normal year revenue wise this could have been managed more smoothly, but with the huge drop in revenue we are now behind schedule and it may take another year or two to complete our new project.

Still, there is plenty of talent on the team and Max needs to do a better job of utilizing what we have and disguising our faults. I hope he has a better game plan than he showed yesterday.

Finally, it is time for the rest of the players to step up. Too many got used to watching CR play and simply feeding him the ball. they all have to do more. Some also need to sit, esp. in the MF.

We could use a new mandzukic and Khedira right about now to tide us over until we can construct a real MF.

IF Witsel is healthy he could help. He is a physical presence, knows how to play and can move the ball around reasonably well.

he is sort of a poor mans Khedira. That might be the kind of player who could be very useful in the short term as we rebuild the squad.

    IF he is healthy.

As to Pjanic he is still prolly better than Arthur who is never healthy, is slow and is not positive enough with his approach. Plus we might actually score a couple of goals off free kicks again with Pjanic.

Regardless of Kean's arrival, Juve are still trying to get Icardi from PSG as well.

He really isn't any better than the MFs already on the roster and is the other side of 30 years of age. Maybe he ends up being a super sub but I'm doubtful.

What do you expect to get at the 11th hour?

Ronny's late departure screwed this window up.

Right now we have MdL, Locatelli, Chiesa, Kula, Dybala, maybe Mckennie and Moise to build the team around.

Some of the others can be serviceable as reserves, or like Cuadrado and Sandro, manning the fort until help arrives, but we need a couple of young FBs, another young CB, at least 2-3 more quality MFs, a new keeper and another top forward.

    That is a lot.

That's why at this point I'd prefer the club not waste salary space on acquiring a midfielder or any player that is only a marginal improvement unless the deal is a loan.

Rather than do so, Juve might be better off planning for the next 2-3 transfer windows. It will be painful, but as long as the club finishes in the top four, this seems like a better option than opting for solutions that eventually leave Juve in a similar position with yet another bad contract.

Without Ronny we ain’t finishing top 4 this year if they don’t improve ASAP. Teams are firing on all cylinders. Inter looks dominant and so is Lazio.

    I could see Icardi coming....

Wasn't it Messi who wanted Icardi off of the Argentine national team because of the whole -Wanda Nara -Maxi Lopez love triangle?

There is a report that Juve are looking at PSV's Mo Ihattaran who can be picked up on the cheap as his contract runs out next June. While he is very talented, he has a major attitude problem and has had several rows with the PSV trainer such that he has been dropped from the first team. Ajax didn't want to touch him with a ten foot pole but Raiola is his agent and there is a Juve connection. He can be a good player if he gets his head screwed on but is more of a project than a quick fill in player right now. https://www.calciomercato.com/news/juve-vicino-un-colpo-a-sorpresa-raiola-porta-ihattaren-25336
