It looks like Elon is celebrating something in robotics that the Japanese have been doing for 15 years. It shows that Elon’s true super power is self promotion.

 

Thank god the company has managed to tie him down with a tiny pay packed of 1 trilllion dollars.

As he points out, Tesla's have someone in them who, presumably, has some sense of self-preservation and won't knowingly let the car crash into something so, obviously, the figures will look better, as this shows...

The Waymo's with FSD don't have that problem so, again, as he points out, (and as we've discussed before), they're only driven on specific streets for which they've been approved which don't include roads where most of the major fatalities and serious injuries occur.

 

More good news, (unless you're Elon Musk of course)...

 

Just imagine a self- driving car in Paris or Rome. The road systems work because the locals know how to drive them. Throw a stray tourist or robot in the mix and they break down.


Like in the UK, of you are in slow moving traffic and someone is trying to enter from a side road, you do the polite thing and give them room to filter in. If you do that in the States (at least in New York) the driver will just stare at you like you're trying to shake them down.

As he says, the only way to do this is to separate out human and machine drivers.

 

I just watched yesterday a docu on tesla's autopilot and the Swedes revealed the Dutch RDW (government agency to licence car types safe for the road) had a cooperation with tesla to find loopholes in the regulations to approve it for the road.

So I absolutely agree with you about Elmo but Linehan's treatment is pretty much what he created by his own actions.

 

I'm not criticizing Linehan's arrest, I'm criticizing the verbal treatment of someone stirring up for violence against an elected government in contrast to issuing a real arrest warrant for an obviously obscene remark, but in scale a blip.
