Obviously that was a meme of sorts, but other than the ridiculous cost, I'm sure it's only a matter of time until climate-controlled seats become a thing. Don't they have it for player benches? It's obviously a thing in cars, but that cost is a hell of a lot more manageable. People probably would pay extra money for premium seats that have cooling/heating technology.
Louisiana has a law banning auto manufacturers from selling directly to consumers. Tesla sued. They lost. The Supremes declined to hear the appeal. Your local auto dealerships are a major source of funding for state legislative candidates, a group that skews very Republican. So there was no chance the Supremes were going to favor the free market over Republican donors. Democrats should make legalizing direct sales a part of their agenda. It would be popular because it would save car buyers money. It would also be a step toward defunding the GOP, which should be an underlying aim of Democrats as they try to save democracy. That, and a tiny transaction tax on stock purchases. And I mean tiny. It would be good policy if it made it impractical for BigFi to invest millions in coders and hardware that makes money by being 1/100th of a second early on purchases. These are common around the world and none of those nations are anti capitalist hellholes. Dedicate the money raised to rebates to all American adults. Build into the tax increase its own unrepealability. BigFi a) skims off a ton of money unrelated to its core function of providing capital to businesses and b) skews GOP as well.
The problem with direct to consumer is that it completely f**ks over the consumer on the customer service standpoint. Sure, you pay more vehicles because it adds a middleman, but it also bends over the customer as direct to consumer companies are less responsive to customer concerns, they are less likely to allow for third-party repairs, etc, etc. Tesla is the poster child for why cars should be sold through a dealer and why direct to consumer just doesn't work for vehicles.
Rather lost track of this thread but caught this earlier today... Don't know how accurate that information is about the BYD fast charging but, if it's anything like accurate, it makes Tesla look a bit paltry in their offering. I also saw this report from the BBC about the Robotaxi experiment in Texas... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg75zv4gny2o Which refers to this... Again, if that's genuine that looks like it's about as good as I always thought it would be. If it ca't even drive down a relatively straight two lane road without randomly stopping what chance is there it can traverse any European roads.
Here is another video from right inside the Teslar robotaxi. Don't know how far away from a real service they are, but it is creepy and is giving me goosebumps. Don't know how transferable that is to roads outside for North America, might get stuck forever at the Arc de Triomphe. As far as the charging times go, I would agree that that is probably the biggest thing EV manufacturers could do to popularize their cars. But they are of course dependent on the charging networks. I doubt they will be able to offer these charging rates for quite some while, at least in Germany because they would be far more expensive to build than the current ones.
Anybody see the price for a ride? It's an obvious number. Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler $4.20
To some degree, it is about what is possible. That Musk is at the helm is a problem, here, in that it's all about him. If this was about somebody else, or more generally about NASA, this would be much different.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/weat...-national-weather-service-damage/84366293007/ Tornados in Florida mean it's time to call FEMA into actio...oh wait.
That guy runs a youtube 'investor' channel and something tells me he has money invested in Tesla Regarding how 'transferable' it is... all he showed was a car driving around a city with some of the widest, most open and quietest streets I've ever seen. You could literally take a learner out on their first driving lesson on those and have no incidents to speak of.
1. Be careful what you pretend to be…Elon has pretended to care about deficits so long he seems to have become economically and numerically illiterate 2. Hahahaha he believed Trump, who could quash this bill with a tweet 3. This is heads we win tails we lose, right, because either the Dems have Agreat midterm or Elon dies.
Yahoo News.... A trio of passengers narrowly avoided disaster after a Tesla in self-driving mode made a left turn down a set of railroad tracks in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, WFMZ reported. The three were able to safely exit the vehicle before the EV was struck by a train just minutes later.
Just wait until AI knows what day/time it is and automatically takes people to their weekly/usual destinations based on that day/time. The simps will love it. What happened to that lady who threw the sledgehammer into the screen back in January of 1984?
Right, so the only reason some Republicans (party of fiscal responsibility!) might vote against teh $5 trillion increase in deficit is because (checks notes) some super rich guy they're about to cut taxes for might take some of that money and primary them?
All joking aside, it's pretty f*cking unbelievable how normalized Trump's behavior has become. Can anybody imagine any other president blatantly threatening somebody to use the government to go after his business interests in broad day light? He gets away with all this bullshit only because republicans as a whole lack any sense of integrity. Bunch of spineless bootlickers.
