As the World Cup comes to a close, the focus will shift to the club preparations for the upcoming season. I put together a chart for the friendlies being televised in the US. As of today, there are already 28 matches confirmed for TV. This will certainly increase as beINSport will likely add many matches between now and the start of the La Liga and Serie A seasons. There is also the EuroAmerican Cup which will be televised exclusively by DirecTV (still awaiting matchups and dates). It all starts in less than a week with Liverpool travelling to Denmark to open their preparations vs Brondby on Wednesday, July 16th and will be shown live on several Comcast Sports Networks (CSN). Anybody see matches added please post here as I will be updating the chart. Here is the chart: http://soccertvblog.com/summer-club-friendlies SA
The 9 EuroAmerican Cup matches (exclusive to DirecTV) have now been added to the Summer Friendlies table. Still awaiting exact channel number for the matches. Full table: http://soccertvblog.com/summer-club-friendlies/ SA
Couple of FC Barcelona matches on beINSport added to the Friendlies table: July 19th at Recreativo July 25th at FC Porto (Deco Testimonial) SA http://soccertvblog.com/summer-club-friendlies/
It must be noted that the Deco testimonial match will feature the Porto team of 2004 v. Barcelona of 2006. The match will feature a mix of current and former players, including Ronaldinho and Mark Van Bommel. Deco will play one half for each team.
A couple of the International Cup matches will now be televised by NBC Sports Network: Tue, July 29 - 7 pm Manchester United v. Inter Milan Sat, Aug 2- 6:30 pm Liverpool v. AC Milan http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/...liverpool-manchester-uniteds-us-tour-matches/ Use link to see entire article....here is an excerpt: NBCSN to air Liverpool, Manchester United’s US tour matches Joe Prince-Wright AP Fans of both Liverpool and Manchester United will have plenty of opportunities to see their teams in action this summer on NBC Sports. Before the 2014-15 Premier League season kicks off, you can watch them Liverpool and United in action live on NBCSN, as the English giants tour the U.S. Both teams are competing in the International Champions Cup this summer and after an agreement was reached on Monday, you can watch United take on Inter Milan on July 29 at 7 p.m. ET from FedEx Field in Washington, D.C. then Liverpool face AC Milan Saturday, August 2 at 6:30 p.m. ET at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
bill hofheimer @bhofheimer_espn Jon Champion is back on ESPN. He'll call @SoundersFC vs @SpursOfficial w/ @KaseyKeller18 - Saturday - 4:00 pm ET - ESPN2. http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-r...lighted-by-summer-soccer-series-mls-and-nwsl/
Added 10 matches that are part of the 'LFP World Challenge' and will be streamed live on lfp.es/laligatv (2 of the matches are part of the EuroAmericana Cup being shown on DirecTV starting Sunday). The matches are: Independiente Santa Fe vs. Deportivo de La Coruña Deportivo Cali vs. Deportivo de La Coruña Adelaide United vs. Málaga CF Alianza Lima vs. Valencia CF Perth Glory vs. Málaga CF Universidad Católica vs Valencia CF Muangthong United FC vs. UD Almería Newcastle United FC vs. Málaga CF West Ham United vs. Málaga CF Phuket FC vs. UD Almeria Full table: http://soccertvblog.com/summer-club-friendlies/ SA PS. 'Phuket FC'....if that's not the best named soccer club in the world I don't know what is!!!
I'm awaiting channel number myself. Last year, all the matches were on channel 479. As of this morning, there is no listing but with the first match tomorrow, I would expect a listing soon. SA www.soccertvblog.com
Not sure where to put this but is Jon Champion working permanently with ESPN? He did the Seattle- Tottenham match today.
I think I read somewhere (either in an article or tweet) that as part of his deal doing World Cup matches that he will also be doing some of the Summer Series matches that involved international clubs. Although I would be surprise if that wasn't the case and ESPN just ask him if he wanted to come state-side for a couple of weeks and call some matches because he did such a good job during the World Cup. He and Kasey Keller will probably be the commentators for Wednesdays Tottenham-Toronto FC match - 7:00 pm ET-ESPN2. They will probably team up again for one of the two MLS vs EPL matches that take place next Saturday, July 26. (New York Red Bulls-Arsenal - 5:00 pm ET-ESPN2 or Chicago Fire-Tottenham - 8:00 pm ET-ESPN2.) Wonder if he/Keller get a third Tottenham match or they switch things up and have them do the Arsenal match instead.
Are you sure it's being aired on DirecTV in the US this year? Seems odd that the guide wouldn't have it listed at this point. LiveSoccerTV has the listings for DirecTV in South American countries and Puerto Rico: http://www.livesoccertv.com/competitions/international/copa-euro-americana/ Nothing for DirecTV USA though: http://www.livesoccertv.com/channels/directv/
I got a card in the mail on Saturday from DTV since I subscribe to the EN Espanol package. And DTV has a web site dedicated to the tournament copaeuroamericana.com but there is nothing showing up yet on the guide.
yea stupid directv they forgot to add channel # http://www.directv.com/cms3/international/en_espanol/Game_Schedule_Spanish_English.pdf
That sounds promising (although I didn't get a card and I'm also a subscriber). I was going to contact DTV through http://www.copaeuroamericana.com/ but it directs me to DTV Latin America: http://www.directvla.com/ To summarize, I am thoroughly confused if this is going to air in the US lol. Guess I'll just check the the 470s and 480s at 6PM EST.
There are a variety of questions on the @directvsports twitter feed from people in the US, but they only seem to respond to Latin America questions where the channel numbers are the same. It looks like we are going to be screwed for this first match. Hopefully they get their act together for the other games. Are you an En Espanol subscriber? I get about 3-4 items through the mail (snailmail) each year. The stuff is always in Spanish, so this is clearly tied to my En Espanol package. I'd prefer they stop the mailing and dedicate that money toward Gol TV in HD and Fox Deportes in HD.
Yeah, I have the en Español package but I can't recall getting any Spanish-language mailings. Everyone tweeting the #CopaEuroAmericana hashtag seems to be outside the US. It's strange that they would promote this series of games in the US if it wasn't being aired. Hopefully someone answers this guy: @DIRECTVSports los partidos de la #CopaEuroAmericana serán transmitidos en USA? @DIRECTV will you broadcast the games in the US?— Diego Martinez (@diegom3) July 20, 2014 And I'm with you there! Not being able to watch the Bundesliga, Copa Libertadores, Brasileirão Série A etc. in HD is really disappointing.
I sent DTV a message and the csa wrote back that the games were on BeIN. Obviously that's not correct so I wrote back that s/he was not reading my email carefully and re-explained the tournament and the postcard. I'll report back if I hear anything more useful than the games are on BeIN. The photos are blurry but here's the back of the postcard: http://imgur.com/MA9WXus http://imgur.com/q09yl2C
Got the same card in my mail (I have the en español package as well) and been looking for the games in their site, in my Smart Search and nothing, no listings of the games, my team (Alianza Lima) plays Saturday against Valencia and I want to watch it in HD, no f...ing stream. Come on DTV, get your sh*t together!
