Congrats to Santi Garcia who just got married to his longtime girlfriend Carla in Argentina. Further great news is that he expects to sign a contract extension soon. According to Bild, after his honeymoon he plans to return to Bremen and have a meeting with Baumann on this topic. http://m.bild.de/sport/fussball/wer...t-bald-neuer-vertrag-46122526.bildMobile.html
More comments from J. Eggestein after signing his first pro contract. Who feels at ease here as Werder is the right club for him. He also understands that it's a big jump from the junior to senior levels, which is why he continues to work on his athleticism and strength. His older brother, Maxi had a role in his decision. As they naturally exchange a lot and often provides his advice and experience. Family remains an important part for him, as he also mentions how his grandfather dreamed that the two brothers will play together in the Bundesliga. http://www.weser-kurier.de/sport_artikel,-Ganz-schoen-cool-Johannes-Eggestein-_arid,1390290.html
According to Kreiszeitung, the chief scout of Southampton attended the Austria vs Netherlands match in Vienna last week to observe Junuzovic. http://www.kreiszeitung.de/werder-b...junuzovic-beim-oesterreich-spiel-6467851.html
Jaroslav Drobny joins us as free transfer. The former HSV keeper joins us as Wiedwald backup and maybe he can win the fight for no.1. And there are rumors we are after Florian Kainz, a 23 years old midfielder from Rapid Vienna.
Vestergaards departure to Gladbach as according to local media as good as ready. Rumors also connect Galvez with Granada, but Baumann stated a sell is not planned. http://www.kreiszeitung.de/werder-bremen/werder-bremen-vestergaard-6471284.html
There's good substance to the Florian Kainz rumors as Baumann confirms interest. The 23 year old winger was one of the top offensive players in the Austrian league last season with 7 goals and 19 assists. He's also a teammate of our new acquisition, Thanos Petsos who joins us on a free transfer this summer from Rapid Vienna. Kainz was a target of Gladbach during the past winter, and was rated around 5 Mio back then. However, the situation will most likely be different now as he now has 1 year remaining on his current contract. However an important factor on whether we sign him will be what happens with Junuzovic. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...el_baumann-bestaetigt_interesse-an-kainz.html
The price for Kainz is apparently now 2.5 Mio and is close to finalizing. Bild is saying he can sign as early as next week. Baumann: "Florian brings many positive attributes. He is fast, has good understanding of the game, uses his teammates well, and is also a goal threat". http://m.bild.de/sport/fussball/werder-bremen/drei-knaller-46198720.bildMobile.html
Drobny brings experience but is otherwise just a temporary stop-gap option. Too bad we didn't make a move for Schalke's Timon Wellenreuther. He looks to be on the market, and would have been a great prospect for the future.
SportBild reports the transfer details of Vestergaard to Gladbach. We are set to receive 14 Mio plus 1 Mio more in potential bonuses and an additional 10% of any future resale fees if that ends up exceeding the agreed amount right now. I must say that Baumann did well here in staying persistent to get greater value out of this transaction. http://m.sportbild.bild.de/bundesli...ch-holt-vestergaard-46223906.sportMobile.html
Levent Aycicek confirmed to go on loan to 1860 Munich for another season, Marnon Busch will join him as well. No purchase options have been included for either players though. Both have contracts that run until 2018. While Felix Kroos signs a permanent deal with Union Berlin.
Scouting out the next Pizarro. There's a new rumor mentioning that Werder have sent representatives to PSV Eindhoven regarding a loan move for Beto da Silva. The 19 year old Peruvian is a versatile forward who's main position is on the left wing but can also cover the right side as well as centrally. http://www.transfermarkt.de/beto-da...m/154/thread_id/1020654/page/1#anchor_2310347
Felix Kroos considers Bremen to be his second home and hopes to return someday. http://www.kreiszeitung.de/werder-b...er-kuendigt-aber-schon-rueckkehr-6483633.html
Because Dortmund have qualified for Champions League, we earn an additional € 300,000 in bonuses from the sale of Sokratis 3 years ago which was originally for € 10 Mio.
Werder and Rapid Vienna have reached an agreement on the transfer of Florian Kainz. Subject to a medical exam, it is expected that the transfer will be officially announced early next week on a new long-term contract. Transfer fee has not been disclosed but it should have been negotiated somewhere between 2.5-4.5 Mio. http://www.werder.de/172470 Edit: Kicker and Kreiszeitung reports the fee as 3.5 Mio plus potential bonuses. Lt kicker und Kreiszeitung zahlt #Werder für Florian Kainz 3,5 Millionen Euro Ablöse plus Boni.— worum.org (@worum_org) June 17, 2016
Oliver Hüsing from the reserves is nearing a move to Ferencvaros. They are current champions of the Hungarian league, with Florian Trinks also being a member of this team. Baumann expects this transfer to be finalized on Tuesday. http://www.weser-kurier.de/werder/w...Verhandlungen-mit-Budapest-_arid,1402383.html
Lol Eichin is trolling already, says he wants to bring in Kleinheisler for 1860 Munich. Not gonna happen though. http://www.weser-kurier.de/werder/w...-Interesse-an-Kleinheisler-_arid,1407695.html
Inter Milan are reportedly interested in bringing back Luca Caldirola this summer. We got him 3 years ago for about 2 Mio, so I can imagine selling him for around 4-5 Mio now. He had a pretty stable season on loan at Darmstadt and has 1 year remaining on his current contract. http://www.fussballtransfers.com/nachricht/sv-werder-inter-im-rennen-um-caldirola_66469
Alejandro Galvez has turned down offers from England, SD Eibar, and Real Betis. His focus appears to be Granada as he's still in talks with them right now. http://granadacf.ideal.es/noticias/201606/29/impaciencia-entorno-galvez-20160629123411.html
Özkan Yildrim moves to Fortuna Düsseldorf. While Julian von Haacke moves to NEC Nijmegen in the Eredivisie.
Vague rumor but according to a printed Bild source, Baumann have sent people to scout out members of the Icelandic team.
Appears like Ujah is going to be sold after all. Kicker says that a deal is pretty much done, with him heading to China for about 13 Mio. A new striker is not expected to be signed as we already have Pizarro, Thy, Eilers, and Johannsson returning from injury. Along with Eggestein waiting in the ranks. The main area that we're looking to address with the transfer funds is a solid new CB though. Robin Knoche (Wolfsburg), David Abraham (E. Frankfurt), and Kevin Wimmer (Tottenham) are listed as options. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...er-werder_ujah-erliegt-lockruf-aus-china.html
