Congrats to Santi Garcia who just got married to his longtime girlfriend Carla in Argentina. Further great news is that he expects to sign a contract extension soon. According to Bild, after his honeymoon he plans to return to Bremen and have a meeting with Baumann on this topic.

There's good substance to the Florian Kainz rumors as Baumann confirms interest. The 23 year old winger was one of the top offensive players in the Austrian league last season with 7 goals and 19 assists. He's also a teammate of our new acquisition, Thanos Petsos who joins us on a free transfer this summer from Rapid Vienna.

Kainz was a target of Gladbach during the past winter, and was rated around 5 Mio back then. However, the situation will most likely be different now as he now has 1 year remaining on his current contract. However an important factor on whether we sign him will be what happens with Junuzovic.

The price for Kainz is apparently now 2.5 Mio and is close to finalizing. Bild is saying he can sign as early as next week. Baumann: "Florian brings many positive attributes. He is fast, has good understanding of the game, uses his teammates well, and is also a goal threat".

Drobny brings experience but is otherwise just a temporary stop-gap option. Too bad we didn't make a move for Schalke's Timon Wellenreuther. He looks to be on the market, and would have been a great prospect for the future.

 

SportBild reports the transfer details of Vestergaard to Gladbach. We are set to receive 14 Mio plus 1 Mio more in potential bonuses and an additional 10% of any future resale fees if that ends up exceeding the agreed amount right now. I must say that Baumann did well here in staying persistent to get greater value out of this transaction.

Werder and Rapid Vienna have reached an agreement on the transfer of Florian Kainz. Subject to a medical exam, it is expected that the transfer will be officially announced early next week on a new long-term contract. Transfer fee has not been disclosed but it should have been negotiated somewhere between 2.5-4.5 Mio.

Oliver Hüsing from the reserves is nearing a move to Ferencvaros. They are current champions of the Hungarian league, with Florian Trinks also being a member of this team. Baumann expects this transfer to be finalized on Tuesday.
