One of my favorite players and a true Werder professional at heart, though reached a crossroads at this point in his career. Would be great if Aaron stays, but I think he's still keeping all options open. He'll be a difficult player to replace for sure.

One another note, Werder has signed U23 player, Lukas Fröde to his first pro contract for 2-years. Contract begins in Jan 1, 2015 and runs until the summer 2017. A good defensive midfield talent, let's see if he can impress during this training camp.

Bild is saying we are interested in hiring Greuther Fürth's Rouven Schröder to be Baumann's replacement as director. No comment from Schröder as Fürth right now are half way through the promotion playoff battle. But rumour there says he could possibly even succeed Baumann already this summer, even before 2015 when Baumann's contract expires.

As KDelzer proclaimed the Hunt transfer to Wolfsburg has been made public today by the VW club.
And another Werder player found a new club: Sebastian Mielitz joins SC Freiburg as a free transfer and fights with Swiss NT goalie Bürki (also a new signing by SCF) for BL minutes. I am happy he found a good club.

Unfortunate that it had to be VW that is Aaron's choice. I wanted to see him at a team where I can cheer for but still support him as a player. Thanks Aaron for all your years at Werder. I'll miss having him in our team, and also he will miss the Weserstadion and the greatest fans.

Red bull Leipzig interested in Marcel Hilßner. He needs more time improving with the reserves but he's a good talent. Really hope we keep him and continue in his development.

From the Bild gossip columns ;)

    http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/w...au-wegen-ekici-und-schmitz-36186868.bild.html

Much of our summer transfer activity could depend on whether we can sell Schmitz and Ekici. This will save Werder a combined 3 million in salaries next year (Schmitz 1.2 , Ekici 1.8). Both contracts will end in 2015. According to Bild, there have been offers from other clubs, but not willing to pay that high salary. Offers for Ekici have come from Turkey and Russia, but he's not interested to going. Quote from Eichin: "We want two players. A replacement for Aaron Hunt and a player who is good for scoring goals".

Would you guys consider bringing Marko Marin back for Hunt's role?

At this point, Marin would no longer fit at Werder anymore. There is no room for his salary under the current structure. Especially when we are trying to get rid of guys like Schmitz and Ekici who are already weighing down the budget. The club is in the direction of moving on to finding and developing new players to replace Hunt. Aycicek is currently the top AM talent in the reserves and should work to impress in training camp for a spot with the pros. From the U19, Maximilian Eggestein is a very promising central midfielder.

Rumour Real Sociedad have traveled to observe Franco Di Santo.

Ginczek still a top rumour for striker, but Joselu has now been mentioned as well for a target.

Other rumour Werder + Wolfsburg have interest in Giacomo Bonaventura from Atalanta.

A report that Werder made a 800,000 euros offer to Dinamo Bucharest but was rejected for Romanian winger Valentin Lazar.

Fulham's Pajtim Kasami listed as potential target. He's considered a player who could change clubs after they got relegated. Although his transfer fee stated to be around 6 mil which could put us out of contention.

Fenerbahce not interested in Ekici after being linked earlier to the player.

Lukas Schmitz leaves Werder and joins 2. BL side Fortuna Düsseldorf. I think the move is a good decision for all sides.
Respect for the player who selected a better chance toget match practive over his lucrative salary at Werder (he still had an Allofs contract).

Schmitz never worked out so moving on was a good He gets playing time and maybe career back on track. I mainly like how it clears much salary space on our budgets. The faster we shed all these Allofs era dead weight contracts the better. All we need now is someone to take Ekici away.

If Galatasary would have an interest in signing Mehmet Ekici this rumor could become become concrete.

I really hope Ekici finds a new club, this would be good for the player and for Werder. But I fear his current salary is an issue. Kreiszeitung reports, that Werder paid Schmitz a financial compensation because he earns less money at Düsseldorf. Allofs really made high salary long-term contracts, no surprise that Eichin has problems to restructure the squad and make Werder profitable again.

Turkish clubs often take in members of their diaspora as reclaimation projects. Ekici is still relatively young and can play, he just needs to stay healthy to get back on track. Any potential interest from Galatasaray in Ekici would do us a favor. A swap of Ekici+money for Hajrovic would be a good move. He joined Gala in the winter for 3.5 mio but has been in and out of their rotation. So I can't see them demanding any more than the original fee, Ekici could also lower it slightly by around a million or so. There's apparently also some contract and wage issues as well with Hajrovic reportedly not receiving 3 months salary. Worum's twitter page lists a couple sources that discussions are ongoing between clubs.

Weserkurier states that a Hajrovic move would be for Werder like Xmas and Easter on one day. I think that is a realistic judgement. The player showed good performances before joining Gala and has a good name, so I don't think Werder is the only club interested in a move and other clubs tend to have better cards (on pitch and financial ambitions) considering the situation Werder is currently in.

Roberto Mancini is awful at handling young talents among clubs that have large spending power and hoard on players. Stems from his days at Man City and letting young guys just waste on the bench. Gala’s restrictions on foreign players is also leaving Hajrovic in a bad position, as well as the salary issues. Their loss can be our gain though, signing Hajrovic would be a coup for Werder. He’s a talented young winger, who just needs opportunity. Many reports have stated that we are quite advanced and promising in the negotiations. Perhaps just settling on a transfer price now. 3.5 mio is still within Werder's transfer ability. The main threat now though is the WC starting. If Werder don’t finalize a deal soon his stock could rise based on his performance during the tournament. And inevitably raise his value and competition from other clubs.
