First Asian player to sign with Ajax. http://english.ajax.nl/News/Archive/Article/Busy-weeks-for-Korean-Suk.htm
How tall? Tall by Dutch standards or Korean standards? lol And I guess he is a striker? Doesn't mention his position anywhere in the article but I guess that bad pun is a giveaway...
KFA lists him at 189 cm/81 kg. And I think I read somewhere that he was originally more of a wing-forward but Ajax were trying to use him in a more lone-striker role.
Is Suk with the first team, reserves, or youth club? Can't tell from the article. Full credit to him for his unorthodox method of getting a trial. It worked!
I don't know either. Some of Korean articles are already speculating Suk to make debut in the next fixture against NAC Breda: http://news.naver.com/sports/index....&mod=read&office_id=139&article_id=0001956556 But this article (posted 2 months ago) says, Suk has signed with Ajax as an reserve player. http://news.naver.com/sports/index....&mod=read&office_id=076&article_id=0002006703 Anyhow, to be honest, I wouldn't expect Suk to be in the first team right away. Not only we know so little about him, there's no credential what so ever for him to play at the first level.
Dokebi do you know if the guys in those pictures next to him are youth, reserves or first-team players?
He was training with the reserves, not the youth as mentioned here. Jol is excited and is pleasantly surprised to find a Korean player this physical.
Then that's a wow for me. Last time I read an article about him(couple months ago), he seemed like he was bound to the youth squad. I guess Martin Jol saw a bit more potential in this kid. Looking forward for this guy.
I know I shouldn't get my hopes up this early, but damn my hopes are up. Nevermind. I hope he can continue the strong legacy of Korean players in Eredivisie. BTW I just checked their league table and Ajax is #3 behind Twente and PSV, which makes the news all the more sweeter.
No problem! I thought that was what you meant. He was not great for Breda but has the distinction of being the first Korean player in the J-League. I remember seeing him play in Jeollado when he was with Ulsan a few years ago and he was significantly slower.
First footballer I ever liked as a kid was Noh Jung-Yoon. He'll always be a legend in my little world.
OT but wonder why Noh Byung Joon didn't make it at Grazer? His goal to appearance ratio is good. 8 appearances~3 goals. Wonder if it's because the team went into administration but no one in Austria picked him up?
Pretty crazy this guy huh? Goes knocking on doors, got in the good graces of Jol and is now getting ready to play for Ajax. Its hard to believe almost. Anyone here know him or have an opinion on his game? Could huh pick him up sometime between now and summer?
someone might want to change his name on this thread to hyun jun-suk, I think junsuk is his name, no?
