Hey everybody, I'm a recent convert to MLS and am going to be attending my first Red Bulls game this Saturday. I know I'm going to have a great time but I've also managed to convince about 15 of my friends to go with me. Some of them are huge soccer fans and others are just going thanks to a wonderful thing known as peer pressure.

Anyway, I want everyone to have a good time and as the organizer of this outing, I'll feel a little responsible if they don't. Does anybody have any suggestions for making the night a success?

Fantastic! Come and tailgate with us in 16a before the match (between gates c and d). If you get to the stadium 3 hours before hand, free parking :D Glad to have new faces in the crowd :D

No matter where you are, no matter who is around you, no matter what they say - be as loud as you can when there is action going down on the field.

Or move over to 101 when you get to your seats and join the loudest guys in the stadium.

Yeah, showing up early is always a good idea, parking costs $10-$15, so I'd say show up at least 3 hours before hand to avoid that. Raging Bull Nation gathers in lot 15 right in front of the South Tower entrance. We should have our banners up so we'll be easy to spot. Swing by, we welcome everyone, we'll keep the grill going. We also sit in section 115 come by if you want, we're pretty easy to find, Johnny Toro, the guy that paints his face red and has the horns, is always in the front row of our section.

As Far as where the ESC and Kearny Army tailgate I'm not sure(I can never remember...) they'll have to answer that question.

As far as things you can and cannot bring into the stadium, you can't bring those plastic horns in any more, they do allow drums and cowbells, as well as real (brass) horns. Flairs and smoke bombs are not allowed and will get you ejected, and they frown upon streamers and confetti, but if they don't catch you...;) Welcome and have fun!

ESC are the people behind the goal. We emphasize that our chants/songs are multi-lingual (well more English than Spanish), and we tend to be a bit vulgar. Ok, a bit vulgar is incorrect. We are very vulgar, hence some people sitting away from our section.

We encourage people in 101 to have fun, berate the opposing keeper, and create atmosphere other than the generic:

Let's go [insert team here] clap-clap-clapclapclap

Swing on by. Love to have ya. Just don't break any chairs or throw objects onto the field.

We tailgate in 16A, bring your own booze (and other things).

WE "FORCE OUR OPINION WITH VOLUME"

Have fun! Arrive early. Talk to the people around you. Cheer loudly. Get excited. Bring me money to my seat in Section 137. Most importantly, HAVE FUN! It's a great time!

Barbeque, kick the ball around, drink and sit in section 101 behind the nets for the most lively experience.

If it was just you I'd invite you over to my tailgate for some Sierra Nevadas and shrimp scampi.

I'm not sure how old you are, but ESC crowd is typically 18-34 year old males and females drunk out of their skull, singing loudly, chanting in Spanish and English, throwing flags, confetti, streamers and other things. We come, we drink and eat in the lot, go ********ing crazy inside, then drink some more after the game.

We tailgate in lot 16a right outside of gate c, starting 3-4 hrs before game time. We STAND behind the goal.

Sounds good to me, we're mostly 23-30 year old males with a couple girlfriends and wives being dragged along. I'll see if I can drag everyone over there since our seats are pretty nearby anyway.

Also, the weather report says it's going to rain. I know the game won't get rained out unless players and fans are being struck by lightning so are there going to be ponchos and stuff on sale? I assume there will be...

    dirty jerz

First of all, thanx for getting 15 people to come to the game. The more support our club has, the better. Get to the stadium around 3pm, and get ready to tailgate like crazy. Keys to success = a canopy (not completely necessary), a grill, garbage bags (to keep things clean), a cooler with some good food, a garbage can with 6 bags of ice, and tons of beer to go in that garbage can with the ice. We always have a group of 15 - 30 in lot 13A. This is small compared to the other tailgates you have been invited to already. We have a lot of space where we are becasue no one else tailgates there. We are all 25-27 yrs of age. If you have seats in any of the 130's sections this is an ideal place to park as the escalator in front of the section takes you right there. But anyway, for your first time, it might be a good idea to check out all of the ESC guys. Its a great experience, and they display great passion. That also might help with getting your 15 friends to go again. Well hope you enjoy, and THANK YOU for converting!

    blim8183,

Thanks for supporting the home side.

The best thing you can do at your first game is to decide to come again!

Enjoy all the tailgating now because it will all be over when we're in Harrison haha. Yea we can meet up at a local pub but it's just not the same. Nothing like having the grill and beer outside.

To be perfectly honest, I envision that I'd enjoy my pre-game experience in a pub not too far from the stadium, rather than tailgating.

I hope Red Bull plans on building the same type of restaurant/pub they have in the Austriian stadium. Or maybe someone will build an irish pub near the stadium site. Hehe, the proprietor can have a "NO AWAY SUPPORTERS ALLOWED" sign on the front. ;)
