I suggest that, after the reverses of recent weeks and the last three years overall, our board caption should be "On the wrong end of being lucky."
You know when Mr. Obscure Reference comments on the out there tagline, something needs to be done. At this juncture in the season, his suggestion is very fitting, but I agree we can wait until the season ends to determine a new one.
clueless in springfield I missed the whole thing when we changed it to what ever it says now...i havent a clue...i dont read that language I like the change...go for it
How about no caption. So we don't look like a bunch of internet geeks. Off to play Majik the Gathering, Jay!
That is hands down, the best tagline suggestion that I have EVER SEEN. F-ing brilliant Mr. (or Mrs. or Ms. or Dr. or The Honorable) #8. Tim
We did this before, didn't we? The funniest one was, "I swear to God everybody here has lost their f___ing mind." Credit: Meridian FC
Re: clueless in springfield I *think* it says something like "Abandon hope when you enter here". That's a very rough translation. I'm not positive though. I'm sure someone can help us out on this...
Yeah we did this before, in January: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=91774 and February: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83142 It's already April, so why not start another one. Do you have a question on the tagline? Check out here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77185 https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72807 I suggest we first vote on limiting the debate, and cut down the # of choices to 7. Then we should poll to reduce the # of choices. The first poll limits the choices to the top 5 choices, then 3, then 2. At which point we have another thread to rethink changing the tagline, and if we still agree to change it, poll the last 2 choices and keep that one permanent until at least Christmas.
I think we should have a separate board for serious discussion about changing the tagline.... But seriously, am I the only one on here who NEVER reads that page where the tagline is? Am I the only one who doesn't care what it says? Just curious...
Bud, that was a noble attempt to clarify the rules. In fact, the following is the true procedure: 1) The Subcommittee on Subcommittees meets to discuss the feasibility of forming a Subcommittee to Discuss the Feasibility of a New Tagline. 2) If indeed a Subcommittee to Discuss the Feasibility of a New Tagline is given the green light, then the Subcommittee on Subcommittee Formation meets to elect members. (Must be over 18 with names including the following letters a, e, i, o, u, and sometimes y.) 3) Once the Subcommittee to Discuss the Feasibility of a New Tagline is formed and meets, then they conduct a poll about the Feasibility of a New Tagline... And that is just the begining...
I always liked "Sucks Less" as a tagline because it's both negative and positive. Either that or "Less Insect parts per million than the leading brand"
This topic is up there with the stars on the jersey in terms of being absolutely run into the ground. By the way, does anyone know what the stars on the jersey mean?
I look at that page maybe once a month at the most, so the whole thing doesn't matter much to me anyway.
You know, after checking out some of the other taglines, I really like the one from the Non-MLS Cities boards. I think we should just go ahead and steal it.
I say the moderators in their infinite wisdom should decide any and all tagline matters from here on out. I would like to have the agreement of all the moderators on that point, but unfortunately our infinite wisdom drives us towards disagreement on just about everything. So since none of the moderators agree on anything (and, truth be told, would never be able to agree on a tagline) I move that we forgo any tagline whatsoever until either pigs fly, hell freezes over or the moderators of this board become reasonable people. Of course, we'd all have to agree on that move too, and that'll never happen. I guess that means we're all doomed to sit around and bicker until our current tagline is lost in the next BigSoccer crash.
I thought the DC United forum was the home page on BigSoccer! Now I know why that General in Cowtown is always having a cow.
