Suggestion: a forum under "Business, Media and Entertainment " called "Ballot Stuffing" where threads can be posted that point out soccer interests in online media polls. Think of the benefits!
    • Online poll threads would receive visibility to all interested voters rather than being restricted to members who follow a particular forum.
    • Members who are interested in casting soccer-friendly votes would have a central place to look, reducing surfing time and (not insignificantly) BigSoccer server load.
    • Such threads, which might be considered as clutter in other forums, would be removed from those places.

good idea, but IMO, it would suggest the idea that BigSoccer might be suggesting unethical practices.

it may not seem completely clean to some of the business partners.

Internet poll ballot stuffing is the norm rather than the exception. This is certainly not a bigsoccer charateristic. I can't imagine anyone is dumb enough to take any internet poll seriously. So I don't see any ethical issues in it at all.

I'd vote for a forum called "Online polls" or some such. If people want to stuff it, that's up to them.

Why not call it "Pathetic souls who have nothing better to do than stuff online polls about soccer, even though the outcome of those polls has about as much relevance and scientific significance of an ant fart".

    Or is that too long?

Isn't "Pathetic souls who have nothing better to do..." the very essence of BigSoccer? :D

Frankly, I'm surprised that this thread got that many folks to respond. And as for the title, I suggested "Ballot Stuffing" with tongue firmly planted in cheek, as I too avoid the practice. I had also thought of monster's suggestion of "Online Polls", but that sounded a bit misleading in that it could be misinterpreted as containing polls posted in BigSoccer forums, as opposed to polls found elsewhere across the internet. How about "Internet Media Polls", or something to that effect?

    Suggestions? I know! Let's have a poll! ;)

Yeah, kinda... I think we should remove one or two words at the most.

Let's not forget... presidential campaigning is governed by polls... the Nelson Rating system is based on a form of polling...etc...etc...

These online polls may be irrelevant or scientifically insignificant to a scientist, but when it comes to sports marketing, "perception" and "hype" play a significant role.
And so I think that polls such as these, can only raise the "perception" and the "hype" of the winning candidate(person, team, sport itself), enough that it may turn a few readers' heads and lure them to further read and become more familiar with the person, team or the sports itself.

Soccer's got nothing to lose and perhaps something to gain(however insignificant) from getting involved in these online polls!

Some more titles for such a forum:

    Ballot Alert for Stuffing.
    Online-Polls Watch.
    Online-Ballot Alert.
    Online-Ballot Watch.
    Online-Polls Alert.
    Currently-Running Online Polls Alert.

BTW, how do I include smileys within the body of these messages. The smileys (or lack of them) can change the character of the message.

Found in thread ESPN: The yanks are coming:
There may actually be support for a Polls forum. Who decides which suggestions pass and which fail, anyway?
