I'm having some company come in from Virginia for the next few days. My go-to is usually Dynamo games, but obviously this week that's not freaking possible. They will get a sporting event fix, though, because that's how cool I am! What else is there to do, though?

Pleasure Pier is expensive if you ask me. I took my friends from Belgium to St Arnold. Spent the day in San Antonio at the River Walk.

Kemah Boardwalk is an option. Houston just isn't a tourist destination.

NASA may be the most unique site that Houston has to offer.

If they like museums, the MFA and Menil don't suck.

If they like history, the San Jacinto Monument and the battleship are worth a visit.

there's tons to do in houston. our museums and theatre houses* are top notch. if you're a 'local loco' support not only the sports teams but the arts. my personal favorites are the mfah and hgo. if they have young children take them to the children's museum and discovery green. check the schedule for Miller Outdoor Theatre to see if any of the companies are playing this weekend. nothing like getting drunk on that hill while listening to opera or the symphony. too bad its not 'accordian kings' weekend.

    #supportyourlocalartscene

*you may even run into Bruce Arena at the urinals in the Wortham like my brother.

You could call Westside and ask if he can use some extra volunteers chasing homeless people out of downtown. :D

    Ice skating at the Galleria.

The Houston Zoo is always clean and good to go.
Laser Light Music Show at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, late shows of course.

Shliterbaum in two locations in SE Texas.

    holy Kaka.......you're old, LOL!

is that fame city bulding still standing? i remember that place back in the 80s, it was the place for "meeting" girls (quotes are mine and intended). back then it was like an hour's drive from Oak Forest to the complex, but you can stay there until 1am on certain nights.

in my part of town we had a smaller version in the Malibu Castle that stood at the intersection of I-10 and 610 (near NW Mall). it was torn down recently to make room for the new 290 to 1-10 off ramp.

and who didn't "smoke" (there they are again) then head down to watch the Pink Floyd laser show at the Burke Baker during the 80s. rite of passage 'round these parts.

this is a good site to waste some time:

I'm still wondering what stuff to do here. However, as I said to Don, Texas has flavor in its food. Likewise, coming from a country where beer is nothing more than flavored water (i.e. Asahi Dry), having lots of microbreweries is a godsend and Petrol Station...

Galveston-always a cool place to take tourists. Take the ferry over to Bolivar. While there go to Anahuac Wildlife Refuge and show them what real mosquitoes are (while inside a sealed car).

There is a safari place in Dickinson off 518. Well kept secret. They have a rhino and some other odd animals. Better than the zoo because you actually get to ride in an open air vehicle. The female gator is worth the trip alone. No joke, bigger than the one in Carnivore. It's unreal. Seriously, worth the price of admission alone.

Take them on the Minute Maid park tour-not bad but a little pricey. BTW why doesn't BBVA have one?
