Leicester win, 1-0, on James Scowcroft's back-post header in the seventh minute. The cross came from Nicky "The Amateur" Summerbee, who had another hell of a game.

Leicester were the better team in the first half and, although Stoke found a few chances against the run of play, perhaps should have added to their lead. The Foxes took their foot off the gas a little in the second half and Stoke just didn't have enough quality to create any threatening chances.

Paul Dickov seemed like he had a decent game, he's a real pest out there (that's why they call him the "wasp"). Matt Elliott was great in the air, it'll be a shame to see him leave but the club doesn't feel like it can afford his 30,000 pound/week salary. Gerry Taggart's return will provide a big boost this season (he's already been named back into the Northern Ireland squad), and Ian Walker is a very good keeper to have in Division One.

...not that I'm shouting that Leicester will finish first after a win over Stoke, mind you all ;) Much bigger test this weekend when the Foxes meet Ipswich. But for now, it's always good to get as many points as you can early, and after two games, Leicester City sit atop the First Division.

Radio Five commentators noted that there were Aston Villa and Tottenham scouts at the Brittania Stadium to watch the game. They guessed they were there to watch Muzzy Izzet, as both teams could use an attacking midfielder (especially Tottenham with Gus Poyet injured).
