in 2000 it was more than numbers. he played a big role that year, but I'd say Nowak played a bigger one. Steve, i know how you feel about Hristo. i feel differently. It's okay. I'd also say we did say it to his face. We just said it with bread. (then words right after).
The whole breading/not breading thing is so over anyway. it was done. Some people agree with it, some not; which is always to be expected. Some love Hristo, some don't. I personally am of the opinion all the good he did in 2000 and to a much lesser extent 2001 was offset by the bad in 2002 and the position he put the team in by not retiring. I don't give a damn who he was as a player before, I judge him as a player in a Chicago jersey; just like I don't factor in Nowak's performances at 1860 Munich in how I evaluate him as a Fire player. I think you can be sure ex-Fire players will think twice now about insulting their former club on the field or off it as a result of the breading, though ...noble y bélico adalid, caballero del honor a triunfar en buena lid, defendiendo tu color...
see, thats the thing, he didn't insult us. he said that he doesn't feel bad playing against the Fire. why? because he was a professional soccer player. thats what they do. what did you expect him to say? "oh, its the worst feeling on Earth, i want to die everytime i have to go against them" i bet if you asked Wolff or Gutierrez right now, they'd say something similar to what hristo said.
You would be looking for a bunch of public comments made by Hristo in the press against the Fire, like a previous poster. While admittedly there was heavy drawing on the one, there was also consideration of Hristo's private comments and attitudes in 2002 that were communicated publicly as well as the way he carried himself on the field in 2002 - those were far greater elements of disrespect that a simple statement. There's so much of that whole story that can't really be told. Maybe in 20 years or something. There was good cause for the action, but I don't think we should have to defend ourselves. Some agree, some don't, it happened, it's over. More than a year and a half plus over. This is all getting off the point, which is that this article is bogus. I also happen to think (should the situation surface, which it hasn't/won't) that Hristo would make a okay choice to coach the Fire despite his past here.
This is why you need to learn to grow up. Thats like me judging you forever for kicking my car 3 years back. If I judged you only on that, I could say your an A-hole, but I dont. I judge you on all of your actions and I say your a good kid just a little immature. Now do you see how stupid the argument is?? If you think that throwing bread at one of our former players is that funny fine go ahead. Same thing goes for all the other losers on here who think that was so hilarious, yet the second you ran into Hristo on the street you would juggle his nuts in your hands like a bunch of teenage school girls, copping their first feel. Its just sad, I feel sorry for your empty lives
Oh Lord. The Irony, The Laughs, will they ever stop? Does anyone remember when Horace Grant went to Florida and said the Chicago Fans sucked? We should have thrown bread at him and his giant goggles too.
Ya know I love ya Liam, I just wanted to make people think I am arguing with ya!!! I couldnt really give two craps what people thought. I like Stotichkov but I loooove bread!!!
Stoichkov was the guy who broke a college kid's leg with a reckless tackle in a scrimmage in his final year, right? That always stuck in my craw. There's competitiveness and then there's being irrational.
